Well, Faith Cangetonbase. A walk puts Runners at first and second, one away.
Natalie Peters up.
Peters pops out to left that will leave it to the Freshman phenomenon, Lexie Blair.
Blair strikes out, ending the threat and we'll head to extra innings with these score where we started the day with it, 0-0
Up 3-1 and you give her the green light?!
Hell yes you do! Every day and twice on Sunday. Don't expose yourself in the middle of main street in broad daylight.
Top 8, a high chopper to third well handled and the Dukes have one away.
Also, they should really be the Duchesses for the sake of grammar. Nevertheless...
A flare to right by File but well handled by the second baseman and the Dukes have two down.
Ground out to second ends the JMU half of the inning.
We go to the Michigan half of the eighth, tied at 0.
Also I find the school named for the guy who wrote the Constitution that bans all titles of nobility to have their mascot be a title of nobility fucking weird.
Spot on!
Spot on!
Geez. The female announcer keeps talking about ramming balls and the backdoor curve.
That's Danielle Lawrie, one of the best pitchers of all time. Won the WCWS for Washington in '09, represented Canada in the Olympics.

Sorry, battery dying, watching Wadre texting someone on the ramp below me.
Top 9, two down.
would it be too much to ask that you go over and hit warde up about the b-ball coach search, maybe get him to show you his phone and the texts? i bet he's good with that...
Went to get a Coke Zero, walked by, told him best of luck with everything and he smiled and said he appreciated it. We'll see.
Time to end this thing.
Argh
M strands a leadoff double in the 9th. One out into the 10th.
Beaubien gets them in order in the 10th.
1st and 3rd 2 out for Michigan.
Again, up 3-1 on the count, the pitcher can’t throw a strike and Hutch has the batter swinging.
You want your batter all over that 3-1 count. Bases loaded decreases your odds of scoring in that situation.
Overaitis grounds back to the pitcher, on to the 11th.
AHHHHH, my blood pressure is creeping up.
This is quite a game. Need to take advantage of one of these opportunities!
Beaubien hit the leadoff batter, got the next two, single to the opposing pitcher. Two on two out, JMU cleanup hitter up.
Easy grounder to Uden who had all three put outs that inning.
Bottom of the 11th inning, two outs, Faith Canfield is at the plate with one on...
And a pop out. On to the 12th
thank you for posting. i think our friend yostal's phone died. either that, or he's in deep discussions with the AD about our next hoops coach.
Phone died. Warde clearly was having a similar level of frustration with the tough time closing out. He left his outfield perch in the 12th.
M catches a break, infield single, followed by a poorly played sacrifice that we got an out on. Bad call at first, runner was safe.
Michigan defense shaky this inning. 1st and 3rd 2 out.
Pop out gets Beaubien out of the inning. Both pitchers approaching 200 pitches...
Leadoff double by Peters. 3/4/5 up with a chance.
Big hit! Now use it!
Woot! Woot! Woot!
Michigan wins in the 12th!!!
Uden comes through. Michigan wins. Probably going to have to beat JMU again tomorrow, but have two shots at it.
Great win! Career high pitch count for Beaubien, 12 inning shutout!
Great win! Will Beaubien's high pitch count limit her availability tomorrow?
Softball arms are basically rubber. Ritter threw like 700 pitches in 5 days or something dumb when we won the WCWS.
The motion is much more natural-much less stressful and tiring than throwing overhand...but that is a lot of pitches.
I wouldn't be shocked if Storako starts game 1 tomorrow. JMU has the more serious issue. I guess Alexander goes later tonight and then who knows what they do tomorrow if they win.
I've coached a number of pitchers who were nearly unlimited in the number of innings they could throw-could pitch 2+ games in a day with negligible drop-off. Pitching back-to-back days, while not preferable, is doable.
FINALLY!!
Way to go ladies!!!
Can Hutch coach MBB? She has many of the qualifications Warde is looking for: HC experience at the college level; good at recruiting; exemplary character; proven record. Would have minimal relocation expenses. No MBB experience, but she knows how to win. No current MBB candidate checks all the boxes!
Plus she consistently pulls elite California kids to Michigan.
Well. She was an outstanding basketball player too! Clearly she has "it" in spades.
