Really hope we at least put some runs on the board here soon.  Trailing to Florida is understandable, but we're getting blown out.  I know it's just one game, early on in the season, but we've been anticipating this match-up for ages & just don't seem to have come to play.

I don't quite understand giving Tera her first collegiate start against this particular team, but who am I to question Hutch?

I pray that Betsa is okay.

For decades, Hutch has always been in the habit of starting her best pitchers against the best opponents each weekend in the early season.  I am certain that Betsa would have started if she were 100 percent.

These last 2 games this weekend, against South Florida and Virginia Tech, are becoming very important, especially with a difficult weekend next week as well (2 at #8 Florida State and 2 more against Virginia Tech).  Anything worse than 7-2 after next Sunday's games will put Michigan pretty far behind their target for getting a top-8 national seed.

Florida is starting their Freshman Pitcher too.  This game is really meaningless in the big picture.  Add in the fact that it is so early in the season.

Sara and Megan are seasoned but Tara is still an unknown.  If we get an injury to either of Megan or Sara, Tara will already have a "BIG" game under her belt.

This is very common in Softball actually.  I agree it seems counter-intuitive but Coaches schedule tough games early in the season for exactly this purpose.  I love playing above my competition and starting a younger player in the circle.

"This game is really meaningless in the big picture."

I get that that's true objectively, but at the same time, this is the one team that's had our number the last couple years, and it's the top team in the nation.  Winning would have really sent a message & done a lot for confidence.  I know it's a long season & we'll bounce back & get plenty of big wins of our own, but this is rough, no two ways about it.

Been pretty good - really busy lately, but good.

I do agree that this could serve as a kick in the pants to find that extra gear.  Last year we got run-ruled at Minnesota, and then didn't lose a game until the championship series.  Hopefully we can get a similar reaction here.  You know this team won't take this sitting down.

a lot of work to do.  Coach Hutch will use this 8-0, 5 inning, Mercy Rule Beat Down to our advantage.  This will not happen again this year...I would bet on it.

Softball really seems to come down to elite pitching. We have good pitching but not the best and it shows. Know betsa is out but they are starting a freshman and we are supposed to be the best offense.

not that we lost to Florida ..They are #1 and the defending champs but getting run ruled is embarassing...maybe all the preseason hype has gone to their heads...only 3 hits? and none of them strong hits...2 by Blanco///all the big hitters just whiffed today...Has Florida gotten into their heads?
