Why do people rush to do things like this? Is there some internet competition to show how fair minded one is that I don't know about? There must be in order to make this suggestion the same day the guy decides to leave to work for a sparty. He was a great coach for us but a sudden departure like this leaves a bit of a sour taste (though I kind of get it). Let's give it a few years and see if we still want to name the court after him then. If he's truly a legend he will stand the test of time.

Instead, why don’t we modify the US constitution to include an eighth article discussing the greatness of UMs football coach.

All Michigan fans know we got jobbed by the refs Coach's first shot at the title. I can't believe the disrespectful comments from some fans about him. Can't even count his first year he coached here. 11 seasons 9 NCAA's and everything else. Naming the court idk but don't know what you have until it's gone.

Nope.  Legends don't inflict this level of damage on the program.  Just like Lloyd Carr's status is forever stained by the way he left the program in disarray.  If Carr or Beilein cared so much about Michigan, they would not have inflicted the damage they did by the way in which they left.

No thanks. I love(d) the idea had he retired here. I have nothing against Beilein and appreciate the work he did,  but we can't be naming arenas after guys that walked out.

Hopefully I see someone at a football game with this petition. I will pull a Lou Brown so fast with it.

Why stop there?

Name the building after him (Crisler coached football anyway).

And the football stadium since that is a Michigan Tradition to name building after people who didn't work there.....

And the Campus Bus Line (Beilein Transit).

And, while we're at it --get the PC police and remove that General Custer statue in Monroe and also change the name of the next town over to "Beileinville" as that Ypsilanti namesake dude was a mob mentality celebrated Greek soldier/hero with violent tendencies....

nope.

i will always love john beilein.  i hope he wins an nba title, and i hope he comes back here to be a de facto assistant when patrick is making final fours.

but he left.  he picked someone else.  you don't get something named after you when you leave.

He left.  If he retired from Michigan, this might be reasonable.  But given what happened yesterday, this is silly.
