I'm in total "I'll believe it when I see it" mode.  I've seen far too many rosy pre season predictions for Michigan football over the last 10 years that have come to nothing.

How long have you been on Earth? There is a large chunk of humanity that loves to complain, whine, and be pessimistic in general. There are lots of them here.

...but what I don't understand is going the opposite direction and saying things like "Harbaughing".  What does that even mean?  Harbaugh's first season, the prevailing thought was that 7-9 games would be a massive improvement from Hoke's 5-7, he won 10...and then followed that up with another 10.

It amazes me how people now look back and act like there have been three years of overhype and disappointment.  You want to guard your optimism, obstain from the kool-aid, I get that, but don't act like the program has been overhyped for 3 years, because it hasn't.

of declaring that everything will be fine simply because HARBAUGHHHHHHHHHH! is our coach.

And yes, sorry, overhype and disappointment do describe the last three years.  0-3 against OSU. 1-2 against MSU.  1-2 in bowls.  Three middle-of-the-pack finishes in our division.  A bunch of wins against weak teams, and epic choke jobs when things mattered.  8-5 in his third year, and still no sign of a quality quarterback, from a guy who was supposed to be the best developer of QBs on the planet.  Huge bust on the O-line from a guy who was supposed to be an awesome developer of Olines.  A team that was supposed to be contending for a NC this year still struggling to put the pieces together.

Until I see differently on the field, I will continue to classify Harbaugh as a perennial 9-3 coach.

I contend Harbaugh is a much, much better coach than you are a poster so who wins? No one here gives a shit about your bullshit but pay attention to each and every thing he does. So who's the big dog? If you don't post tomorrow are people going to feel like they missed something? Fuck no. If he takes tomorrow off for no reason, are people going to be worried sick, wondering about the health of our coach? Who has to prove what to whom? I think you should stay in your lane lil sis or better yet, leave the fucking car in the drive.

I'd rather be on the "The Expected Teams To Kick The Shit Out Of Yours" list, but this is a start.

pretty well and we should be a much improved team next year, even with a tough schedule. It's time for this team to take the next step and start competing for championships. No excuses next year.

...at home...two-deep intact. I'm not feelin optimistic. Then again, even when we're good - and I have no idea if we will be or not given recent happenings - I'm not Mr. Brightside.

Almost our whole defense is back too, and we stoned their offense a few months ago. If our offense can do anything against their defense (which should be good but not elite), I think we have the edge even in East Lansing. Even if our offense sucks again, I think that game's a push.

Among the questions that still have to be answered for the 2018 season:
  1. Will there be more significant changes to the coaching staff?
  2. Will there be significant changes to the type of offense that Michigan will run if Shea Patterson is eligible to play in 2018?
  3. If Shea Patterson isn’t eligible to play in 2018, who will start at QB?
  4. Who will be the OL starters?
  5. Will Grant Newsome be able to play, and if so, at what level of skill?
  6. With Ty Isaac gone and Kareem Walker’s status uncertain, is there a power RB on the roster? If so, who?
  7. How will Ben Mason handle his role as the every-down fullback, with no apparent backup on the roster?
  8. How well will the defense adjust to missing Mo Hurst and Mike McCray?
  9. Who will be the punter?
  10. Who replaces James Foug as the kickoff specialist and Garrett Moores as the holder?
  11. Other than Chase Winovich, who among the current fourth-year players will be offered a fifth year?  (Noah Furbush? Brandon Watson? Lawrence Marshall? Bryan Mone? Juwann Bushell-Beatty?)
  12. If Nicholas Petit-Frere, Otis Reese, JaMarr Chase, Tyler Friday and Jarrett Patterson all sign with other schools, what’s the back-up plan for the 2018 recruiting class?  CB Vincent Gray and some preferred walk-ons?
  13. Will any of the incoming freshmen contribute in any meaningful way?  If so, who?
