This is the paragraph that really nailed it:

The root of the meme, though, is this: Meyer is particularly and singularly unlikable. Even before the off-field drama this preseason against former receivers coach Zach Smith that led to Meyer being suspended, investigated over what he knew about domestic abuse allegations and ultimately reinstated, Meyer was not popular either among his peers or college football fans outside of Ohio.

Harsh but true.  And OSU fans hated him along with everyone else before he came there.

Think about this: the man won two national championships at Florida (of the three in their history), and yet he is absolutely loathed over there.  Contrast that to fans of Stanford or the 49ers who still hold Harbaugh in high esteem.

Yup. The author discovered something that I didn't really even notice during the August drama, that Meyer is really the most hated coach in the country. Even Saban, Swinney, and a few others have some redeeming qualities. But literally everyone is happy when OSU loses.

Dantonio would probably be close if anyone outside of Michigan actually cared about the MSU program.

meyer told his team that they need to forget about Saturday and move on to next week.  If they are having a hard time forgetting about Saturday, he has a prescription that might help.
