Problem is, Klages knew in 1997 (if not before then) that Nassar was fondling gymnasts. Several trainers knew and were hushed, and some of them are still employed at MSU today!  Add the numerous other incidents we've heard about that were swept under the rug, and who knows how many that we haven't heard about, and MSU wants to pat itself on the back for starting to care in 2015?  It would be funny how inept and tone deaf they are if not for all the harm their inaction caused.  And this has NOTHING to do with sports in my opinion, just a shitty institution that has lied and covered their own asses instead of ever taking accountability and working to help the victims of THEIR crimes.

Also - wasn't MSU's stance under Simon & Engler that they didn't know about Nassar until 2016?  So what prompted the changes in 2015 - or was Simon not privy to those changes?

The problem with the "since 2015" wording is two-fold. It's not just implying they didn't give a shit until then, it's also the case that well after 2015 they were still in circling-the-wagons mode, basically protecting the brand at all cost.  I suspect that 2015 is when the Feds started looking into their practices, so this is a claim that since that time they've turned over a new leaf, all their shortcomings are 4 or more years old.

If MSU has indeed made changes to address its numerous issues (unlikely, based on all evidence so far, but possible), then I don't think that the changes themselves or statements about them will have any legal significance.  It may be ripped in the world of PR for being tone-deaf, but it shouldn't have any legal significance.  MGoLawyers can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that the law generally tries to exclude evidence of subsequent remedial measures taken after an allegation of wrongdoing.  The idea is that if you use them finally doing the right thing as evidence that they did the wrong thing in the past, then they will avoid making the needed corrections.

That being said, the MSU administration is/was full of shit-bags and should be punished accordingly.

There will be some sort of settlement and Staee will move forward with basically no consequences. Business as usual in East Landfill.
