SIAP: A bit of smoke at OSU about potential sexual misconduct from a former team doctor

Submitted by Marvin on

This is an NYT article about a Dr. Strauss who was employed as a team physicial from the 70s through the 90s at OSU. It's a slow day so I thought some people might find it interesing. There's not much there yet, but it's eye opening to me since I never would have even begun to imagine it as a possibility, and now we have at least two instances with Nassar and now this guy. Here is the most relevant bit:

“To date, the investigative team has received confidential reports from former Ohio State varsity men student-athletes affiliated with cheerleading, fencing, football, gymnastics, ice hockey, swimming, volleyball and wrestling,” Mr. Davey said. “We are sharing this information to encourage our community past and present to come forward.”

If only these teams would crater on the field as effectively as they fall apart ethically, the world would finally be put to rights.  I hope we pummel them the way they deserve to be pummeled this fall.

Penn State, Michigan State, Ohio State. All have won the B1G since expansion, all have sex abuse scandals. Us, sex abuse scandal free (hopefully forever), no B1G titles in over a decade.

If we compare this to the endless gaffe stream from MSU's BoT, president's office, AD and various coaches/staff, any administrative statement that reads as “We are sharing this information to encourage our community past and present to come forward.” is a massive success in operating like a responsible adult. So...good example of a step forward, OSU(?).

HORRIBLE

Ohio St is a school "well known" for beating down MSU and Penn St for the horrible things that happened at those two schools.

This might be on the same level as Nassar ,how the hell do these people get away with this for 20-30 years

One of the Ohio St sites, says its 300+ complaints, why is this just now coming out? 300+ kids said i was assaulted by this guy and no action was taken? I dont understand ........

im not sure if its 300+ assualts, but its still 300+ complaints about the guy

Ohio St needs to held responsible

Get away with these things for so many years? Another example about how safeguards must be put into place to protect patients/victims from these abusers.
