Fool! Wikipedia had it hours ago! It's well established that Wikipedia is the ultimate source in reliable information.

Also, welcome Shoop-shoop-uh-dupe!

Too lazy to look it up right now, but I thought Salt N Pepa kind of predated TLC by just a bit? And I thought if Salt N Pepa as more hip hop and TLC as more R&B (not perfect distinctions I know). But that’s just my sense trying to think back to 25 years ago.

Prior to CNN/ESPN, nobody gave a damn about an assistant coaching hire, because the 24-hr news cycle didn't exist.  When CFB was out of season, the only news about it was when a blue blood program's head coach blew up somehow (ie: Moeller getting a little drunk).

Shoop is a really solid defensive coach and Michigan is lucky to have gotten him as a position coach.  I don't think he'll be around all that long (much like McElwain), but he'll hopefully help make the defense even better while he is.  MSU's 2018 defense was #1 per SP+ and while it fell off this year rather severely, that seems (at least in part) due to heavy attrition on the defense from graduation (including three first rounders) and some injuries.

I know this blog will rant about terrible recruiting prospects, but this feels like a really nice replacement for Partridge on the field and we'll see how Michigan handles the recruiting aspect with another hire.

Obviously recruiting is the number 1 thing holding this program back and Harbaugh hasn't made it a priority since his first couple of years at Michigan with not holding recruiting staff meetings. Alabama and Ohio State make recruiting ability a prerequisite for any assistant coach. The staff has let recruiting die under Matt Dudek.

Said this before, but bringing back the support guys from 15/16/17 makes the most sense to me.  Albert Karchnia is one of these guys and is making a name for himself.  CMU has the most talent in the MAC, and one reason is they are not afraid to compete in Florida, NJ, and in the portal.

Personally, I would try and get Ron Bellamy or Jermaine Crowell.  The State of Michigan has an all-time 2021 class.  If you just get the 5-7 kids you want from Michigan your composite would be 4.375!

Also, Cato June or Kovacs would be fun.

Cheers

Please do not get either of those two Michigan high school coaches to come on staff especially Crowell. They warrant no reason to get a job like that at Michigan. There is a reason neither of those guys can win a state title despite their talent level.

Lets not sugar coat this - Drevno was not good at recruiting.  He was good as an OL coach alone, his 2015 and 2016 OL's were pretty damn good considering what it was in 2014.  In 2017, when things fell apart, was when he was promoted up to co-OC and Greg Frey was brought in to share the OL duties.  That is when his OL coaching started to suck some rank ass.  He and Frey have very different views on how an OL should be constructed and how it should block.  They didn't mesh.  He peter principled out - as proven by his return to straight up OL coach at USC.  The USC OL was one of the better performing units on that mostly shitty team.  But his recruiting still isn't any good...
