Hurst may have had the best season for a Michigan DL this century (though both Graham and Woodley had great years), but that doesn't necessarily make him as good of an NFL prospect as Woodley or Graham (who were built about the same as Hurst but could play OLB).
Hurst is a great, great college player and has potential to be a great NFL player in the right system. But he's 280 lbs, and while he's very strong for that size, that's by college football standards and not by NFL standards. His first step, his hands, all great for an attacking defense; his size, and limited length, make him a difficult fit for a controlling, two-gap defense.

No question there, he is not a nose. He does have the most devastating first step for any DT in recent memory though. His lack of pure physical size will likely keep him out of the first half of the 1st round.

This mock draft is laughably bad.
I'd give examples, but its the whole thing. #content

but isn't Shea going to be elgible for the draft regardless of whether he plays this year or not? The way I understood it was the player had to be removed from high schools for a minimum of 3 years.

Yes. I think that the original poster is speculating that the only way Patterson could get drafted that highly is if he played this year, since nobody would draft a guy first overall who has played a little more than a season and who is coming off a redshirt.
