Shea Patterson to UM Rumor
So I received some info I wanted to pass along to you guys, not sure that I believe it since it didn’t come from Counterstrike Guy but here goes...
I want to be sort of ambiguous with the source information because I'm not sure how these type of things work but this is basically a friend of a friend who is a family friend type of situation.
Anyway, this person is from and lives in Toledo (Shea Pattersons home town) said Shea is coming to Michigan, also he apparently was in AA yesterday.
Some reasons I am skeptical is that I trust Sam Webb and he said the opposite, also I would assume news about him being in town yesterday would get out. On top of that why would he transfer to sit out a year and have no guarantee at playing time.
Don’t kill the messenger but thought this was some interesting potential developments

Didn't he tear a knee ligament that forced him to miss half the season? Anyone know a projected timetable for getting back on the field? Maybe he doesn't mind sitting out next year?It would give him more time to rehab and learn the offense. It would also still be high risk to think he could then beat out a returning starter.
If he does come, whoever loses out on the starting QB position this Spring will transfer. Which leads me to believe Harbaugh doesnt want him. Time will tell

Wilton transfered because Peters, Harbaugh's first choice for Michigan QB, has played well and is set to enter bowl practices as the 1st string QB, while Wilt is not even cleared for contact yet. He saw the writing on the wall that a very talented QB who is younger than him and already the starter here has passed him. Wilton did not transfer because another D1 QB, who isn't healthy and isn't eligible to play right now, allegedly wants to transfer in. That's a ridiculous notion.

So your counter-argument is that Wilton Speight, team leader and starting QB pre injury, would actually announce a transfer in the middle of a season that he is not playing in only because he is hurt?
To your second point: read my comment above. Ole Miss would need a 2 year bowl ban for Patterson to transfer without penalty. Considering that this is what PSU and USC received, and Ole Miss already gave themselves a 1 year bowl ban, it's incredibly unlikely that the NCAA would give them another 2. The default is that Patterson would need to sit out. There's no reason for Wilton to even think that Patterson would be coming to Michigan, let alone coming without the requirement of sitting out a year.

And do Speight's own words count as evidence against? Because he specifically recounted Harbaugh's reaction to the news, which wouldn't happen if Harbaugh had told Speight he wasn't going to play him.
C'mon, man.

Peters played as well as can be expected this year given the circumstances. I hope he’s our guy next Fall with McCaffery constantly nipping at his heels and waiting his chance for a year or two.

I've said this before and I'll repeat it - Michigan doesn't need another QB, it needs to make sure the ones they do have can finish games in one piece.
