I have no sense the NCAA will be logical here. Ed Davis got 6th year at MSU despite being Scout team POY for them (and they posted it on his official bio), and yet guys who try to take additional classes can get booted. I want to believe the NCAA doesn't want to die on the hill that is Ole Miss, but who knows anymore. Would be nice if he is eligible. I still believe it's Peters's job to lose.

Maybe.  I still believe a lot of people are reading way too much into that USC game and not the fact that he did really well until he was injured in the Wisconsin game.  There is an irrational belief that Patterson will somehow walk onto campus and pick up Michigan's offense quicker than literally any other QB has previously and do it well.  That may be true, but I'm not holding my breath, especially when you also consider there are some pretty significant changes with the offensive coaching staff.

Michigan is probably in a bad place if he falls to #3.  Mauybe McCaffrey shocks people and Patterson looks better than when we last saw him, but lots of bold proclamations being made with little evidence is all I'm saying.

Yeah.  I guess I'm pessimistic that a guy who looked decent toward the end of the year suddenly falling apart would be a large indictment of the staff.  Also, I have just never quite seen the justification for the love Patterson has gotten as a savior; he looks like a really good prospect who has enough flaws in his game that it'll take, say, a year to really hammer them out.  He had an inconsistent year at Ole Miss before his injury, with his big-number games tending to come when his team was down big (see Auburn) or against tomato cans.  His one legitimately impressive performance was against Vandy, but even then you watch some of those highlights and it's short slants going for huge YAC, Vandy safeties just letting WRs run far behind them (one of his TDs I don't think you see a defender within 15 yards of him), and assorted other performances.  A bit like O'Korn against Purdue, though perhaps somewhat more sustainable.

I want Patterson to succeed because that makes Michigan better.  But I have my doubts that the player we've seen for about a year at Ole Miss can step right in and be a starter over guys who have been in the offense for years and, to be fair, aren't chumps either.

The NCAA likes to hit the big hitters in the junk and tell us maybe next time..but for the M$U's of the world, the NCAA treats them like the baby of the family and let's it ride. Please don't let that be the case. I really want tO$U's head on a platter in their house this year.

Does the fact that we know that Ole Miss was paying players affect Patterson's chances?  It is hard to believe that Patterson (the No. 1 ranked QB in the nation) was not paid by Ole Miss.

If he can  transfer to Michigan with immediate eligibility, then wow, I don't know the last time Michigan was that loaded with blue-chip talent at the QB position.  Probably never.
