Share Your Hot Takes for the Coming Season
With the football season quickly approaching, along with the pressers from yesterday, I would love to hear the hot takes this board might have for the coming season. The general sentiment is that this has the chance to be a special season if things fall into place, but what are some things you specifically think will happen that would require performances on either end of the good season/bad season spectrum?
My hot takes are as follows:
- DPJ will break the single season receiving yard record currently held by Jeremy Gallon (1,373 yards)
- Shea breaks the single season Passing TD record currently shared by Grbac and Henne (25). This isn't very outlandish, but I think any single season record breaking performance should be included.
- If this season ends with a trip to the CFP, Don Brown will take a head coaching position somewhere after the season.
What are some of your Hot Takes for the coming football season?
we keep having political threads and this place will go down in flames.
get a hold of yourselves. man.
In flames?
Definitely a HOT take!
Smoking hot, much like a staee couch bonfire!
Obsess much? wow... just because some doosh called you out...
nope. take a look at the thread about ross.
(and yes, i accept your apology)
Against my better judgment I took a look at that thread and am now mad at myself for it.
I dunno, I though it was a fun read before it go nuked.
I did, too. Credit user Thomas Howell (Powell? Sowell?) for inspiring what I think should be the new motto on the MGoBlog banner:
"At least we all love Michigan Football."
Thomas Sowell.
In real life (not the poster using his name as a handle), Thomas Sowell is a famous economist trained in the Chicago school of economic thought (trained under Milton Friedman or Eugene Fama I believe).
I’ve read several of his books. Great author.
Ah, now that rings a bell. Never read one of his books but I know he's got famous quotes I would recognize if I saw them. For the sake of this thread, don't post any.
So did I. Unfortunately I only got through page 2 before the moms found it.
Moms? That IS what they are!!
Good 'ol Moms!
I said this in the thread that got nuked so I want to make sure I say it again: XM and Stephen RJ King are the kindest, classiest users here, so I'm not sure how one could even "call you out" as if you've said something so inflammatory. You guys keep us in our places and are a big reason it hasn't gone down in flames (yet). Along with LSA.
Brilliant. Fucking brilliant.
LOL'd for 3 solid minutes.
brutus, you are definitely spot on with SRJK, and even if your aim is off in regards to me, thank you for the kind words nevertheless.
Not to start a fan club or bromance....
but you both are two of my favorite bloggers on her and Brutus is up there also. People need to lighten the help up!!!
Who is the her you refer to here?

I agree.
Hey xm, Seth said he didn’t get your contact info email. Am I getting rejected again? Feels like high school all over
Username checks
within minutes of our blog-convo that day i emailed seth. possible misfire, but pretty sure i sent it to info@ mgoblog
was hoping for a beer with you. that said, i think you ended up being about 70 miles away from us on that trip so even if we'd connected it might not have happened. next time down maybe we can plan a bit better.
does that still feel like high school? how many grades in the metric system up there, like 14 or 18, graduate at 25 like iggy?
Misfires happen amigo. The address that worked for. me is [email protected].
I come back to Petoskey/ Harbor at least once per year and would love to do a pint, even with an obvious white supremacist like yourself.
Let's try not to bring up those painful high school memories. Now that our school igloos are melting in the summer due to global warming, we have shorter years and graduate high school in our mid-30s.
tapped into your old yearbook. shop class here?
will have a pint. i need advice on how to be a white supremacist in an xtramelanin household. paradox if there ever was one....

It's very easy. I just can't tell you on this board for... reasons. Looking forward to a pint at backlot, then Glenlivet and Cohiba at Ernestos.

I enjoyed a pint and a few street tacos at back lot this evening. Great place.
I'm pitching this idea to Disney today! Who's Mel Gibson's agent again?
I will offer you an apology. I’m sorry that was said to you. However I am sure it meant little other than you feeling sorry for narrow minds.
LMAO...he called you a Trump slappy, and instead of ending the conversation there, you continued it on this post.
Nothing to apologize for. But I will hold your purse if you need to insert a man-pon.
lol you spell poorly
You're that familiar with female hygiene products eh?
WTF man?!
By get a hold of ourselves I assume you mean masturbate to the political threads?
*zzzzzziiiiipppppp*
Well played, man.
^^^ Also well played!
The political threads ARE masturbation. I am becoming less and less tolerant of zealots of all stripes. There must be a hundred million discussion boards out there they could hang out on but no, they need to invade the space of a board that wants to discuss football. And then we are all a bunch of assholes for not rising as one to salute.
In the immortal words of Steve Martin...Excuuuusssse Meeeeeeee!

I mostly missed that one.
Things will go well, and we will still complain. I will also get negged for this.
To borrow a phrase Gary Lineker used to describe international soccer, "college football is a simple game: 22 men chase a ball for 60 minutes a game for hundreds of games over 4 months, and in the end, Clemson plays Alabama."
I don't know who this originated with but I love it.
Football is quintessentially American...10 seconds of violence followed by a committee meeting.
I first heard it from George Will (he's more of a baseball fan) but not sure if he was the originator.
Baseball is Will's passion. But baseball is more like one second of action followed by endless standing around.
Might be a little less than a second. Sixty feet between home plate and the pitching rubber. Ball at 90mph goes 132 feet per second.
So in roughly a half second success or failure is pretty well determined (obviously not including hit ball air time!)
They only play for 60 minutes? What happens during the other 30+minutes remaining on the clock?
Army will nearly beat us, this site will comically overreact, and we will win the Big Ten.
I'd be okay with that.
Army won't nearly beat us, they will beat us. That will lead to Harbaugh instantly occupying the hot seat, followed by losses to Iowa, Penn State and Ohio State, and a dispiriting loss to a mediocre SEC team in a bowl game. But Harbaugh keeps his job. Book it.
