Saturday night drinking and eating thread

Submitted by sadeto on
Can we have a slight change of pace and talk about what we're cooking, or being served, in addition to our choice of intoxicant? Is quiverfull/xtramelanin eating a steer he slaughtered back before his farm froze over? Is bronxblue having red sauce on Arthur Avenue? Is it French for Powhound, or Ensure? (JK) We're doing a Chinese hot pot with sliced ribeye, tenderloin, fish tofu, prawns, cuttlefish balls (must have been some big cuttlefish), Chinese yam and various oddities thrown in. Washed down with a growler of Singlecut Halfstack, Stone IPA, and Kelso Industrial. You?

Oh boy.

Let's see. I started with a Sam Adams winter ale and 2 Yeungling black n tans. Then made a Long Island ice tea. Put the kids to bed and now am on my second 3-2-1 margarita. Life is good.

Will be wearing my #10 Michigan jersey tomorrow. Go Pats!

Did a Waffle House (as close as we can get in Vermont) night at our house.  Ham, egg, and double cheese on white.  Double order of hash browns, scattered, and double covered.

Now drinking Fiddlehead IPA with an occasional spot of Sambuca Romana.

dinner tonight was at Costello Plan, deep in the heart of Brooklyn. Lamb sandwich and a southern French Cab Franc-Merlot-Syrah blend to wash it down. Then a stop off at nearby Bar Chord to have a beer (Ithaca IPA) and a bit o music from a fun country band, Bill Carney’s Jug Addicts. (Yes, they have a washboard player.)

Really stepping outside the box tonight. Getting pepperoni and sausage on my Dominos pizza(instead of the usual pepperoni).

Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Hoppy Lager. Good enough but staying in this vein I would take any number of dry hopped session ales. It tastes like a lager with the tiniest bit of hoppy syrup at the back end.

Had sushi for dinner. Currently drinking a Sixpoint Bengali Tiger IPA, then I'll move on to a Jackie O's Dark Apparition Russian Imperial Stout.

in answer to sadeto's OP.   well, not a whole cow, just about 4 lbs of burgers on the grill with cheese we made from our dairy livestock.   throw in a little salad and a glass and 1/2 of merlot and it is a fine saturday night.   the older sons lit the wood stove some hours ago too, so it's really toasty warm inside too.  barn chores done.   it's all good man, real good.  go blue and have a great night.

Had to run to the Meijer in A2 for a couple ingredients. Place was packed and shelves were emptied as everyone thinks there will be milk or toilet paper available after tomorrow's snowmaggedon.

They told us last weekend we were getting the biggest snowstorm in NYC history, so my GF bought more food than we could fit in the fridge. The city shut down mass transit. And we got about a foot. Can we as a nation stop spending a trillion dollars a year on wars and instead try to figure out what the fucking weather is going to be tomorrow?

I don't know which one you were at, but I was out at the Meijer on Jackson Rd around 6 today to pickup my Super Bowl supplies. There was a friggin' line to get a shopping cart...and a 30 minute wait to checkout. Whole Foods on the day before Thanksgiving was a breeze compared to that mess.

Whiskey and playing NBA2K15. My 3 year old must've know I was down by 21 while I was making a drink. He decided to unplug the PS3.

Ate at the Weary Traveller tonight. Probably my favorite spot in Madison. Used to live around the corner but now it's a rarity for me to make it across town. Had Founders on tap.
