Sam Webb "Gut Feeling" On Jordan Anthony and a Najee Harris Confidence Booster

Submitted by ColeIsCorky on

I posted some potential rumors with Najee Harris regading a potential commitment date set for today on another thread that I discovered was completely false after doing further digging once more information was out there, so here's me attempting to make up for it.

This may have been brought up before, but on WTKA this morning Sam Webb gave his "gut feeling" on Jordan Anthony committing to Michigan tomorrow. Unless something goes really wrong, he's choosing Michigan tomorrow. I believe I heard Sam mention it one other time before, but I don't recall reading much more about it on mgoblog. Hopefully this is news to most of your ears.

On Najee Harris...

This morning, Sam Webb went into further detail on him and made this statement.

"If you just listened to what folks inside Michigan circles are saying, you'd be popping champagne bottles already." Another statement says they are "really confident" with a major emphasis on "really."

He discussed how he hasn't made a full assessment on whether or not he will commit to Michigan because he has not heard anything from Najee's own personal circle, but that should pretty much tell you how confident the staff and fellow recruits are that Najee will be committing to Michigan.

I listened to the podcast this afternoon, or I would have posted this sooner. I haven't seen anything mentioned on the board yet regarding these comments.

I'll leave it at that.

Link to the podcast: Well worth the whole listen.

Happy Holidays, friends.

Looking at 247, 83% of the crystal balls are leaning for Georgia although most of those picks came from August or earlier. There are only 4 new CB picks in the last few weeks: 1 for Georgia, 1 for Mich (that was Ace) and two "foggy" picks. Based on the positive feedback we read from his official visit, who knows? Probably a difficult decision for Aubrey but he'd be another awesome "dude" to add to Brown's defense.

alabama has 4 of the top 8 composite outside linebackers. even weirder, Michigan has a chance at landing 3 of the other 4:

I dont see what makes him the long shot since he hasn't hidden his love for Michigan. I haven't seen as much positive talk about any other schools. I heard there were academic hurdles but if we focus on clearing those, and convincing mom that he will come home a better man, I would think we are in the drivers seat.

Last time I heard people prematurely popping champagne, I believe it was on election night. I'm waiting for Harris to be all blue.

Just know that Isaiah Wilson had two crystal balls set to Rutgers, the same number as Georgia who eventually received his commitment. Rutgers. The only two schools in this race are Michigan and Alabama from everything the Insiders have been saying. He also took an official to Cal, but they are not a serious threat. I don't recall if he took one to USC or not honestly, but I haven't heard anything regarding USC since Michigan became an option.

Timing matters, because some recruiting folks set a prediction and kind of forget about it. Harris hasn't gotten a single Crystal Ball prediction to USC since the summer of 2015, which means that nobody who has analyzed his recruitment in the last year and a half has thought he's going to USC.

But at least Sparty is a few cars back in our rear view mirror. Which is exactly where they belong. Just think about how they Dantonio owned us 2 short years ago and enjoy the ride. OSU is squarely in Harbaugh's cross hairs. It really is just a matter of time before we are on equal footing with them. And not a long time either. Sparty, on the other hand might beat us every 3rd year max. We have a 9 game lead on OSU in the overall head to head series. Just like pre-Cooper. We had a run then they did. I don't think they'll get much closer than that. Urban will soon feel the heat of Harbaugh competition and bail. Just like he did at Florida. He only likes to compete with a pat hand.

"It really is just a matter of time before we are on equal footing with them."

We just lost in overtime in Ohio Stadium in a game where admittedly biased officials did everything they could to hand the game to the Buckeyes. I'd say we're on equal footing already.

Well if the staff doesn't mind Sam saying they think Najee's coming then they can't object to anonymous me saying one of our up and coming redshirt frosh, whom I know pretty well and trust, said "Yeah, we got 'em" when I asked about Najee the other day. Of course that just means he thinks it or has been told it, which doesn't mean it will happen. I think it's better they think he's coming than to have signs he isn't though.

I also asked about other RB's feelings about him coming and he said it's not a problem because they all believe they all have different styles & things to offer, can share the ball like they have been, and don't mind competing for carries.
