Saban talks paying for unproven players

Title is a synopsis of the overall topic.  In a recent interview, he talks about how a player's coach came asking for 800k as well as a transfer who wanted 500k and the players GF to be accepted to the law school.  Assuming this is real, it's an interesting take by Saban.  He's stood out in the last year for throwing shade at Fisher calling out the buy a recruiting class going on.  Seems he's a little more 'old school' than others.  Wonder if his stance will take a broader hold in the sport.  This seems to align with what Michigan has been saying.

"As part of Alabama’s top-ranked recruiting class with seven five-stars, Saban admitted NIL played a role in the recruitment of some players. The Tide secured multiple flips late in the cycle like offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor and pass rusher Keon Keeley.

Offensive tackle and late flip Kadyn Proctor admitted he was receiving a slightly more valuable deal than he would’ve had he stayed home in Iowa."

So it states clearly that Bama paid to flip guys at the last minute and yet Saban is complaining.

But I think he's right...NIL is a fucking mess but he's paid to win and he's going to keep doing whatever is necessary to do just that.

So did Saban give them what they asked for?

Saban can talk about how it’s not a good idea and act like he doesn’t do it.  But he has paid recruits a lot in the past. Clearly he does it at least sometimes. Why is he warning others not to?

Motherfucker, you have been paying unproven players for decades. It's just in public now, instead of through bagmen with a wink and a nudge. FOH with this shit.

I’m from A2 but have lived in Alabama for 38 years.

I can assure you NS has already had enough of the NIL player hostage ransom.

I was speaking with a guy very connected to the Bama football program and he said - Saban has grown tired of ego eccentric players and isn’t going to be looking at just how many stars are next to a players name from this point on. He’s going to value character and work ethic just as much as their athletic abilities. At the end of last seasons Saban laid the law down in a team meeting with the BS and a good number of players transferred.
I think he’s about to get back on course. Harbaugh and Saban are sailing in the same direction with the NIL ridiculousness.
