Rudock is NOT the first M QB to throw for 250 in 3 straight games

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Just thought I'd clear up a confusing stat that was thrown around during the game and after it. Most notably on BTN's postgame show.

Rudock is not the first Michigan QB to throw for 250+ yards in 3 straight games. He is the fourth.

What most likely confused the person flipping through the university record book is the gap in dates between these 250-yard games. In each of the games listed below, the gap you see is actually a bye week.

Todd Collins-

They incorrectly reported Jourdan Lewis breaking the single season PBU record weeks ago.

In truth, he actually broke it yesterday.

Their automated statistics archive is what they use to report the stats on Twitter and whatnot, but the funny thing is, their pdf record book stats on PBUs is completely different.

I actually used the wayback Web Archive to see which one was correct by going back to old MGoBlue press releases and stats, and it was their pdf record book once you matched it up.

The statistics archive has some problems. It's missing a lot of info such as sacks and sack yardage for years prior to 1994 which presents a lot of problems on my end for my statistical record book I'm continuing to add more detail to.

I've been recently trying to detail stats by position. For example, top-10 in single season sacks by a DB or career rushing yards by a receiver.

WD couldn't possibly just be an enthusiastic fan who likes to contribute to the board.  I don't get the hatred for WD...IMO he's a great contributor, but hey - if it makes you feel like more of a man to cut other people down, have at it.  Let me guess, you drive one of those 4WD trucks with the insanely huge tires too, right?

Wow, you really pegged me with your stereotype. I'm glad you have everything all figured out. Like you said, it is just your opinion that he's a great contributor. I happen to have a different opinion of him and his antics.

This is getting old fellahs. I don't necessarily see the value in everything WD shares but I don't see the harm in it either. You aren't the owner of the blog. You aren't a moderator. I suspect that more than one of you has never contributed a dime to this site. You have no authority to decide who can and cannot share content here, yet some of you basically stalk WD, as if you are trying to shame him to stop posting. Seriously?Your incessant complaining accomplishes nothing except make you come across as petty assholes.

You thought YOU'D be the one to clear it up, 24 hours after Wolverine Historian cleared it up in the game write-up post, and numerous people mentioned it in the original message board post claiming the stat?

How humble of you to do the work and take credit.

that no one gives a shit about what players do in 3 consecutive WEEKS vs 3 consecutive GAMES.  There has never once been anyone who kept any records based on weeks vs games.  It's always consesutive games.   Why would you ever penalize a player for having a bye week?

If you want to cherry pick stats you can make every accomplishment into a new record.  Hey, Player X is the first player to do Y while playing 3 games in temperatures between 52 and 57 degrees between noon and 3:30 on days that are prime numbers in November.

He is the first Michigan QB named Jake Rudock to throw for 250+ in 3 straight games, right? Also, he is the first Michigan QB to throw for exactly 337, 440, and 256 in 3 straight games regardless of name.

Really? I never thought this stat would be achieved again when you have QBs like Denard playing

Let's hope he can set a real record next week - 4 in a row with 4 wins.

But nice catch on the bye week issue there, maybe that was the reason for the confusion.
