......the Rose Bowl is strongly considering taking No. 8 Penn St (10-2) instead of the Buckeyes to avoid a repeat appearance coming off another deflating loss to their rival Michigan........

I know this, I knew that kid didn't have the heart that it takes to win when he took off on that QB run early in the game and was met by Rod Moore a couple of yards past the line of scrimmage.

Stroud never ran past the line the remainder of the game.

Please Lions trade your draft pick for next year so you can take Caleb Williams, because that kid has "IT".

Allegedly Ohio State has told the Rose Bowl they’d rather Penn State go there. Ohio State has been in what, 3 Rose Bowls in 5 years?

It appears OSU is trying to get the Orange bowl. One covid capacity-limited season aside, OSU hasn’t played in Florida since 2013 I believe.

Orange Bowl doesn't have a choice. They are contracted to take the highest ranked available team from the Big Ten, SEC, or Notre Dame with a couple exceptions for rematches and conference appearances. If OSU is left out of the playoff and passed over by the Rose Bowl, they will be the highest ranked available team at #5.

OSU itself telling the Rose Bowl to pick someone else because most of their good players won't show up and their fans won't care is hilarious and shows just how bad it might get to Day if he continues to not beat Michigan or make the playoffs.

Also probably the Rose Bowl saying “damn your Playoff, we will take who wants to be here.”  I could seriously see the Rose Bowl opting out of the expanded Playoff. The don’t seem down with all this.  One cool idea if they are going to bail would be to play Army v Navy there.  The BIG title game being there as floated by somebody earlier is also a good idea.

I would hope so.

Honestly, until the CFP expands in 2024, I think I'm in agreement with those who say that if you're a one-loss team who didn't make your conference title game, you shouldn't get rewarded for sitting at home while another one-loss team puts it all on the line (unless they lose 56-0 or something).

Makes sense. Give the honor to a team that’ll play like it wants to be there vs. a bunch of sorry sadsacks who think they’re entitled to winning. I personally think it would be hilarious to watch OSU to have to go play Tulane in the Cotton Bowl. To them, they might as well go p,as in the Quick Lane Bowl.

Yeah, they’d probably win, but you know they would think playing in that game is beneath them. They’d treat the game like it and carry themselves like it going into the game. And if OSU has enough guys sit out….maybe, just maybe Tulane can win it.

The Ohio State fan base isn't interested in a repeat Rose Bowl berth. And Stroud suggested after Saturday's loss to Michigan that he might not participate in a OSU bowl game so the can prepare himself for the NFL draft.

If I'm the Rose Bowl, I would invite Penn State based on those factors alone.

Honestly, this is a win-win for numerous entities.

PSU will be energized for Pasadena.

OSU prefers a Florida Bowl.

Likely better ticket sales for the Rose Bowl.

The ACC likes it because a Big Ten team in Miami means the ACC gets the Big Tens Outback Bowl slot.  An additional Bowl slot for them.

The Outback Bowl gets FSU or Notre Dame.  Good for their ticket sales, and honestly better than if they got a Illinois or Minnesota.

Even the Motor City Bowl likes it.  There are now enough B1G teams for them (they don’t have to pick a random at large team like Nevada from 2021).

The only real loser here is Tennessee, who slips to the Cotton Bowl.

H2H is not a factor, but things that are include ticket sales, fan excitement, and team engagement. OSU would have those in much smaller numbers than PSU. The Rose Bowl also has a clause that allows them to pick someone other than the "obvious" choice if there are two teams in a "cluster," i.e. within a few spots in the rankings.
