Rivals Mike says "today I think Michigan would be choice for Da'Shawn Hand" EDIT: Also Sandwiches
Ok I changed my mind, gun to head today I think #Michigan would be choice for Da'Shawn Hand. Things getting interesting.

I said as of today, still long way to go I think “@theist313: @stephenjnesbitt @rivalsmike though he wasn't making a decision until Dec?”

Couple very good sources “@bzillmer: @rivalsmike Best news I've heard all day. What made you change your mind from yesterday?”

Sorry for the ugly twitter embed. Still working on that. Since Mike Farrell has been more on the Virginia Tech side on Hand's recruitment, this would seem a good sign.
In addition, he already visited Bama and maintained that top two previously. Thus he prefers Michigan to Bama having visited both. I don't think he has visited UF yet.
Think of it this way. Michigan was 50/50 before. Michigan's standing hasn't changed so now you have two teams splitting the other 50% and it's 50/25/25.
There's just something about his personality.
I hear he lacks competitive intensitiy and is a poor fit for any program that cares about working hard, the right way.
I heard he cares too much about grades. And as we all know, Ohio State doesn't like that in their players.
with you but you only gave the post about 30 minutes. In another 30 we would have had some good replies.
Just don't think he fits in. A bit of a prima dona. Urbz will replace him with another five star that fits our hard working, ethical, team centric approach. Don't think his offer is commitable anymore. Not a serious student....more of a scUM recruit.
but I think you meant pre-madonna. You probably got negged for your spelling mistake.
Just in case someone reads this and thinks I'm wrong....don't be a Moran!
Sometimes I think these guys just predict new "leaders" to get more page hits and twitter followers from different fanbases. What does a "couple very good sources" mean? What more do we need that isn't coming out of Hand's own mouth?
But Farrell has a DECENT track record, and has been doing this long enough that you know he's not a complete crackpot. If you'll recall, he was driving the "EJ Levenberry to FSU" train when everyone else had him favoring Michigan.
That said... yeah. We'll see.
Farrell is a self-righteous, douchey egomaniac, but he's also one of the best. I shudder to think of the ways he gets his information, but when he does, it's normally right.
Especially about big time VA-based kids (see: Levenberry, Green, Blanding, etc etc).
So true. I held out for like a year following him on Twitter just because of the way he is. I finally gave and actually enjoy his thoughts/predictions. You can be right and a Dbag.
but unless Hand is announcing today I'm not going to get super excited over these tweets.
Sam Webb has been saying the same thing about Hand for at least a week or more, and Hand's own comments—if you want to read between the lines—have also hinted that Michigan is in a very good spot.
If Hand had told Farrell directly that Michigan was his favorite, that would be newsworthy. All Farrell did was give his own opinion, which means it's just another data point in what looks like a good trend. Since we don't know the decision date, that's all it is.
I wonder what's happened in the last 15 hours:
Gun to head today I say #hokies but there's long way to go I think "@MGOBLUE07: @rivalsmike Mike, decision day today, Hand picks?”
What I think happened:
- He got a LOT of mentions from Michigan fans saying, essentially, "You are wrong, better check your sources"
- He checked a couple of his sources that would "know"
- He changed his mind
GIGGITY GIGGITY
Or rivals is just baiting both fan bases.
If they are, so is 247. Of the last 15 crystal balls, 9 of them have Hand going to Michigan, and 6 have him going to VT. Seems there has been a change of opinion lately. VT has 3/4 of the crystal balls going their way still, but Michigan seems to be making the charge. Too bad we're still on the front stretch and not rouding the final turn...
Dammit.
I saw that on Twitter and wondered how quickly it'd land here. Pretty impressive speed!
comment deleted... placed in wrong spot.

Can you give me a hint? What does the "s" stand for? That's where I lose it. Can you at least tell me what part of speech it is?
smart
Thank you. That would have bothered me otherwise.
Well, here, it's an "S"....
I just spent too much time figuring those out. You guys are mean.
OHGODDAMNIT
I am surprisingly proud that I figured this out.
Gun to my head today, I'd turn said gun around and shoot Mike Farrell. Nerf gun, of course, as I'm not one of those internet tough guys who gets arrested for making anonymous threats.
Recruiting really getting rough if there putting guns to analyst heads.
but more accurately we appreciate good grammar.
And hammer the bad.
In perusing rankings on Rivals anyway, one of the things that makes the potential to get Hand particularly intriguing is that it would add to some incredible defensive recruiting. In the last two full cycles, if I counted right, there have been 24 recruits on defense, 15 of which have been 4-star recruits or better. The addition of Hand to the 2014 class - if it happened - would make for 4 out of 6 on defense in that class. Even as it is, I feel pretty good about the level of talent being built on defense, but Hand would make it that much more impressive.
MF is a d-bag / poser / etc. etc. Not a stand up guy by any means with regards to personal behavior.
But when it comes to recruiting - he is one of the most accurate analysts in the biz when it comes to "guessing" where kids are headed (see that KY QB that chose UK recently - he was the only guy saying UK when everyone else had S. Carolina - and he stuck to that pick the entire time). He doesn't flip/flop much either. Only when he hears things from insiders that make him change his mind - people he trusts the most.
I've followed the guy for a while now, and you're being way too pessimistic with this news. If Hand was picking today, it would be Michigan. 100% chance. Now we just have to keep it that way until he actually picks. And given it's only been VT or Michigan you can say that about.... you have to feel pretty good right now (this is no DE / OLB prospect named Joe from California...).
P.S. If its 100% then it's not a chance. That's a certainty.
I mean...I know his name is "Mr. Rager" but I didn't see anything in his reply to you that gave me the impression he was anything but calm. What was there in it to make you think he was otherwise?
