Risk Day 17 - This Is What Good RNG Looks Like. Ohio State Is OUT Of The West (for now)
It's always a bit nerve-wracking when the clock hits 0 on a given turn. There's no way to know how the (virtual) dice will roll and whether your team's strategy will pay off, or if a bad roll of the dice will set you back several days. You guys saw what could happen with a bad roll of the dice just a couple days ago. Last night, though, RNG decided to bless us in a big way.
Not only did we secure all of California and Nevada, but OSU lost ALL of their western territories (not counting Alaska). I cannot overstate how huge that is. We no longer have two of the biggest powers in the game bracketing us. Instead, we have Stanford (the weakest team) at our northern border, an embattled Nebraska to the east, and TAM only touches one of our territories (ASU).
That said, you all have seen how quickly fortunes can turn on a given night. We're in good position heading into the next turn, but it won't mean much if we don't take advantage of it NOW. OSU continues to recruit exceptionally well, and actually has a 52 player advantage on us (TAM also has more players). They WILL be back, so we need you guys to continue turning up the heat. Get your assignments from MichiganCFBRisk.com and keep playing EVERY DAY. Follow @CFB_Risk and tell your buddies to follow it, too. And if you want to get more involved, be sure to join the Discord server (https://discord.gg/JJJh3Gc) and get vetted for some insider talk.
All that being said, here's to a great night last night and GO BLUE!

I’ll login and attack Ohio State
Logged in and put my newly acquired 3-star status to good use.
Be all that you can be
Excellent post +1. (And, I loved that movie.)
So Alaska and the top of Maine are connected?
Is Alaska and Hawaii connected? I assume no?
Which territories are Hawaii connected on the main land?
That said it'd be nice to get GT out of Hawaii and have even more protected territories and utilize our numbers on the frontlines rather than having to protect 1 (or more?) territories on the backside. I like our positioning to have more and more protected territories and not out in the middle of no where like those Texas and Oklahoma freaks.
Alaska and Maine (Boston College) are connected, Hawaii is connected to SDSU and Miami (FL), but Alaska and Hawaii are not connected to one another
We have a positive relationship with GT at the moment, so the Hawaii/SDSU border is not a big concern right now.
Thanks! Probably a good buffer to keep GT in HI then if they get overrun by the Miami territory.
Not happening any time soon. The closest adversaries would have to go through 4 territories to get to Miami. Unless Michigan and GT start going at each other, we're their buffer on the west coast through California and they're our buffer in the southeast.
10 days in a row , just became 2 star .
Keep grinding! I am finally a 3-star and finally got an MVP a couple turns ago.
How long is the game expected to go? I'm thinking maybe a couple of teams get knocked out and the rest just play to a stalemate.
Last time it lasted a couple of months. The game runners are working on end-of-game scenarios but I don't think anything is planned or set in stone yet.
Hey, the longer it lasts, the better. It isn’t as if people have a lot of other things to do.
As far as probabilities go, only Clemson can really get knocked out, and that would require a coordinated effort and luck.
Nerds!
Seriously, stop doxxing me!
Which recruiters do we need to fire the money cannon at?
We can't let OSU beat us on Risk 'croots. We don't have anyone to blame!
New to this (and risk as a whole) but I joined, got my assignment and executed the order. Thats it right? Just was somewhat surprised as to who my order was for based on the map above.
Yeah, that's it! If you want to get more involved in strategizing, join us on discord. We vet the users there to make sure there aren't any buckeye spies in on our plans.
can you post a legend for the colors?
Maize - us
Grey - bad guys
Maroon - Texas AM
Burnt Orange - Texas
Orange - Clemson
Black - Chaos
Beige - Georgia Tech
The reds get a bit tricky:
Alabama is down in Mississippi/Alabama,
Oklahoma is in Oklahoma/Colorado,
Stanford is up in the Northwest,
Nebraska is the lighter red in the NW, Minnesota, Utah, Colorado and Kansas
Wisconsin is the red in Michigan, Wyoming, etc.
After watching this since last seaso I finally signed up. Hadn't before because I figured I might forget to submit turns consistently. Plenty of time now since I am off like many. Did first assignment!
