Re: Reports Coach Hart had a seizure, reference
First off, I hope Coach is okay and stable.
I thought this reference might be helpful for people wondering what (assuming reports are accurate) it might mean that he experienced a seizure.

For those who haven’t been around someone having a seizure, it can be a very scary sight.

Has it been said if he has any history of these?
October 8th, 2022 at 2:54 PM ^
No history said the Michigan sideline earlier.

This thread is about as coherent as our offense - seizure research thread???

Sorry for the bad title, was distracted when I wrote it

Just not a fan of hot takes about about a hot take -that links to an article that implies form very grave conditions with very little to substantiate any of it.
I’ll probably get negbanged even more but just seems like a “why” imo

I’m not a fan of assholes

You’re getting negbanged because you’re carrying on like an asshole and comparing a legitimately scary medical issue to poor play calling. Try to not act like absolute trash next time . . .
October 8th, 2022 at 10:02 PM ^
I’m carrying on like an asshole because a player and coach, I’ve followed, respect and admired had something crazy happen and we’re posting speculative sh**t off of hot takes. Did you by chance read the article? And the associated speculation? Do you know anything about censures? There are a myriad of reasons and causes, and this paints the gravest scenario. If it were my son, your son, anyone - I’d still find it the same way. A hot take linking to an article that suggest some grave things. And not very tasteful imo. $0.02

PS - the “prayers for Mike” post right before this thread seemed like an appropriate gesture.
webmd google diagnosis. Not so much

Thanks for the update.
Sending prayers

Extremely scary.

The term seizure can apply to different things of different levels of serious so I am going to wish for the best and not speculate.
October 8th, 2022 at 3:46 PM ^
Where was a seizure reported? I don't remember hearing anything on the broadcast.
October 8th, 2022 at 3:49 PM ^
i didnt catch it either - espn reporting seizure, he contacted the team at halftime to relay hes ok
October 8th, 2022 at 3:54 PM ^
Halftime report on Fox said seizure.
October 8th, 2022 at 3:56 PM ^
Brady Quinn mentioned it at halftime. I don’t know if he heard something, saw something, or was just speculating.
October 8th, 2022 at 4:12 PM ^
I haven’t seen/heard it reported anywhere officially yet. Fox used the word seizure at halftime. Coach H called it a medical emergency on the post game radio announcement.
October 8th, 2022 at 5:18 PM ^
A few reporters at the game also reported that he appeared to have a seizure. As an emergency medical care professional that was my initial thoughts seeing it on TV as well. He seemed to display a good amount of confusion as he was being loaded and carted off the feild. Something common with the postictal state following a seizure.
October 8th, 2022 at 3:57 PM ^
Really hope he is okay.
October 8th, 2022 at 4:03 PM ^
I hope he's ok.

It was right in front of us. We were 14 rows up on the 40 yard line. It was surreal. I saw him down and was wondering that nobody was reacting cuz it happened so fast. Literally one of the scariest sights to see him down like that. Corum was visibly shaken. Hope to hear he’s doing better. No dr but it looked like he was having a seizure as I’ve had family members suffer with them.

Grain of salt where necessary.
October 8th, 2022 at 5:33 PM ^
This is the sort of update I've been hoping for. Feeling better, but really hoping for some sort of official statement when they are comfortable giving one
October 8th, 2022 at 6:14 PM ^
I can’t imagine what the players were thinking while it was happening. My thoughts are with him/them.
October 8th, 2022 at 6:22 PM ^
If he hasn't had a history of them then something else caused him to have it, means there are many things to rule out and find the cause. I hope it is nothing serious.
October 8th, 2022 at 8:09 PM ^
Don’t know if he might be diabetic or pre but I know the only seizure I’ve seen in person looked similar and was my cousins discovery that he was diabetic. Real rare for something like epilepsy to not reveal until mid adulthood from what I read. Here’s hoping he was just dehydrated or something minor like that.

I’ve shared a bit before that I know Hart, from having worked at the athletic department when he came to IU. I’m currently out of town but headed back into town in about an hour.
As has been shared already, he’s staying in the hospital tonight and his wife is with him. He is doing good and hoping to make a trip back tomorrow. I texted him to let him know if he needs anything to reach out to me. I’m not the only one for sure, there are a ton of guys still in the athletic department or around Bloomington that have a lot of respect for Hart and who were checking on him as soon as he got to the hospital.
I know this isn’t any new info, but if he’s OK with me sharing once he’s back with the team, I will. Harbaugh doesn’t want him to rush back. Corum was very upset and wanted to stay with Hart. He was still very upset going into halftime.

I sincerely hope this isn’t the result of a more serious disease. I hope and pray that whatever caused this can be controlled and that he can live a normal life.
October 8th, 2022 at 9:56 PM ^
I am someone who has had several seizures and have had many work ups by docs over the years. It has been scary to go thru but in the end they concluded that my condition is not serious, thankfully. Let’s hope this is also the case for coach, because they all look scary and serious.
October 8th, 2022 at 11:59 PM ^
I saw that he will stay in Bloomington tonight, which kinda says something. My wife who is from Asia and still is playing catch up on American football asked who he was, pretty simple answer from me, I’m 37 and as far as I have seen he is the best player from UM that I have seen. Denard was amazing and I watched an underutilized Brady at UM and Hart still was the best. He was all Hart (pun intended) and the definition of a Michigan Man, the player’s reactions showed that. Hope he gets healthy and is everlasting presence on UM sidelines until he retires. He belongs on the sidelines and in our Hart’s

New onset seizures in an adult have a pretty scary differential diagnosis. Hopefully nothing serious.
October 9th, 2022 at 9:57 AM ^
Exactly. Hope he is Okay.
October 9th, 2022 at 1:42 AM ^
Best wishes to Coach Hart. Some folks have them, and nothing can be found as the cause. I hope it is something like that for him -- a one-off mystery, and he is fine going forward. I wish for the best.

Any update on how coach is doing? I haven't see anything yet. Did he end up traveling back to Michigan today?
