Rank which Michigan/Detroit team you'd want to win a championship first

Submitted by bsgriffin1 on

Just curious as to how you fellow mgoblogians would rank which team you would want to win a championship first, second, third, and fourth regarding the Lions, Pistons, Tigers, and Michigan Football. But sadly the catch is only one championship within 10 years of eachother.

1st (within Ten years),

2nd (within 10- 20 years),

3rd (within 30-40 years)

4th (within 40-50 years)

5th (withing 50-60 years)

Mine would be:

1) Michigan

2) Lions

3) Red Wings

4) Tigers

5) Pistons

edit:  how in the hell did i forget to add in the  The Red Wings

update 2:  To be honest im not a Detroit sports 'fan' either besides growing up UofM and Red Wings fan since I've lived coast to coast all my life but since going to school here I kind of wanted to see what most of Detroit/Michigan fans would choose since I know the struggles been real, especially with Lions never winning a championship (but this seasons looking good), the Tiger's being a good bet to win recently, the pistons sucking now, and Michigan well.. :( .

Feel free to insert whichever sports team you wanted.

I moved back to Michigan in 84 and didn't connect emotionally with that team. Otherwise the rest of my big 6 teams have won (Niners fan not a Lion's fan). But if Michigan wins either bball or football in the next 10 I won't complain.

Could you ever imagine the DETROIT LIONS winning a Super Bowl? Hell, I'd take a Lions NFC Championship win over anyone else.

For me, it's:

1. Michigan Football-  (Everybody else after Michigan football is a DISTANT second)

2. Michigan Basketball

3. Detroit Lions

4. Detroit Pistons (even though I've started to hate the NBA)

5. Detroit Tigers

6. Detroit Red Wings

Tigers

Michigan

Lions

Red Wings

Pistons

Baseball is the greatest game on the earth!  MIchigan football is tied with the Denver Broncos in my heart (Alas the Broncos are not eligible on this list).  Would love to see the futility of losing in the Ford families tenure go away!   They are iconic in the grand scheme of history and so a Lions Championship would be a great addition.  Red Wings have won their fair share.   NBA basketball sucks, but I do like the home state Pistons!

BTW would rather this be a consecutive season thing.  So I will pretend that this will start with the Tigers next fall.  Followed by a miracle uprising in putting things together for our Wolverines!  Then in January of 2016 the Lions follow suit and so on and so forth!

Go Blue!

I have seen championships from all of my teams (Michigan football & basketball, pistons, redwings, tigers) except the Browns. Unfortunately this is the team I expect to never win. It's all John Elway's fault. FU John Elway

Michigan football clearly number one.

Seeing the Lions win would be so surreal and incredible it has to be number two.

Michigan basketball.

Tigers for my dad's sake.

I consider myself a huge Red Wings and Tigers fan. That said, a Michigan football championship is the only thing I think would bring me to shameless tears. 1997 is more than just a year to me, it's like a critical junction of my life.

It's not even close.

If we looked at this from a chronological perspective we can slot every single Michigan sports team in according to the order that they play their respective championship games.

So obviously I want the Lions to win first, since Michigan Football has no possibility of playing for one this year, and they are the next team on the list that could possibly be playing for a championship.

Any answer other than "Lions first" means all the other teams on that list which start and finish their seasons before superbowl 50 must fail to win a championship; thereby indirectly rooting against the other teams on the above list.

TL:DR - The only correct answer here is: The next team that could win a championship, followed by ordering the others accodring to chronological sequence of championship games to be played.

  1. Michigan Football
  2. Michigan Basketball
  3. Detroit Lions
  4. Detroit Tigers
  5. Michigan Hockey
  6. Detroit Red Wings
  7. Detroit Pistons

...but again, I want everything to happen around the same time so the entire state gets the attention, hype, credit that it deserves.
