Question on tonight's matchup

I can't help but think of the mismatch Hutchinson (and Diabate) have against Villanova's front court.  Their tallest player is 6'9".  Villanova lost to Purdue where Edey put up 21 points.

Am I overlooking something?

I am having trouble believing that their back court can keep up with that.

Well for one, their 2 6' 9" guys don't even play. Their ideal rotation is only 6 guys, with the bigs being 6' 8", 6' 7", and 6' 7".

But yeah the Edey box score is pretty crazy. 21 points in 20 min on 13 possessions.

Villanova was actually winning by 10 with 10:40 to go and then Purdue really started pounding the ball in to Edey. They also put in a 6' 10" freshman for 24 min, when he only got 10 mpg in big ten play. Probably trying to overwhelm them with size.

Playing Edey only 20 min was probably a mistake, but given it was in November, Purdue probably hadn't figured out their rotation yet.

God, if the fucking commentators talk about FT% the whole game, i hope dickinson and hutchinson start just chucking chairs at them. my god - i get that FTs matter, but acting like that's Nova's calling card and that's the pure difference in the game, is irritatingly simplistic.

What if they go 29-30 but miss one at the buzzer for the win?

Rant over.

The scary thing is that Purdue shot the shit out of the ball in that game and only won by 6pts.

52/43/85 line for the Boilermakers. Oh and 'nova only hit 52% of its FTs!!! And they only lost the OREB battle by 2 boards. Crazy game.

SS33, that is scary looking stuff, but i don't see how it could be true, at least for us.  it makes no mention of d. jones, and lists guys that were jogging off the court and celebrating, and seen at practice yesterday.  unless the team bus from the hotel hit a semi, i'm thinking this has to be wrong.  either that, or our collective fan base is going to need medication.

I mean, that's what I was thinking, but how do four players randomly appear on an injury report? I have no idea where the information came from; it's what comes up when you search for Michigan basketball on Bing. Unless it's just some kind of algorithm error? Or maybe just really outdated information? I can't remember, were those players out for a time earlier in the year?

It would be accurate as far as the players out for the home Rutgers game, but I don't remember either Eli or Jace being questionable for that game.

In any case, Bing still has that up.  If it is simply just an error I would expect it to be corrected in the next hour.  If it isn't, there may be some reason for concern.

Pre-Covid I would not believe in a million years that injury report and would say 100% mistake.  We can't be too sure with that anymore.

it goes both ways, they're going to force Hunter to guard the perimeter. They've got a handful of good 3pt shooters, so they'll obviously try to get Hunter to have to switch onto one of them to either shoot or drive past him.

Please, please, PLEASE don’t lose this game because you shoot 25% from the free throw line. If you’re going to lose, let it be because Villanova is just flat out better.

Missed bunnies and free throws are the difference right now. Michigan could easily have a slight lead right now.
