Putting into perspective how good Michigan's class could be this year
Most likely scenario....
DJ Carton
jalen Wilson
TOTAL POINTS: 51.94
Last Year Rank: 40th
If Michigan lands the duo of DJ Carton and Jalen Wilson, it would give them a recruiting team ranking of about 40th. While at first glance, this does not seem so great, take a deeper look. Michigan would have been the highest ranked class with only 2 commits. If you sorted by averge per commit, it would be a top 5 class.
Rocket Watts scenario...
DJ Carton
Jalen Wilson
Rocket Watts
TOTAL POINTS: 63.45
Last Year Rank: tied 16th
Interestingly, this 3 man class would be about a point and a half away from last years really, really good 5 man class. Fairly amazing.
Jackpot scenario....
Jaden McDaniels
DJ Carton
Jalen Wilson
Total Points: 63.94
Last Year Rank: 15th
#3 class as far as points per recruit. With this class combined with last years class and the coaching at Michigan, Michigan wins the NBA finals 3 straight years. Easily.
It’s a change in the Beilein recruiting philosophy in the past few years since he’s been left in a bad position too many times from not offering a scholarship since he wasn’t sure where it’d come from.
Yes, yes... Now it's coming back to me - thank you for the explanation!
so there would still be room for Moe. I agree with your assessment of where we're at for the 2019 class.
Beilein made the change a few years back. People were speculating that Davis might have to take a prep year to fit everyone from 2016 in. 2018 was the first class where he didn't have that to fall back on.
Not with only three players, no. Last year the highest-ranked class with three or fewer players was ranked 12th.
