Public Service MGoReminder/HTTV Deadline/Seth Appreciation Thread
It's presently just after 1am on the final day (yes, final day---the annual drive ends at 8 pm 7/30/21--- that's today!) of this year's annual HTTV fundraiser. This is the annual event that helps keep this great website up and running with outstanding FREE content/coverage of your favorite college sports at your favorite University. Free content---how great is that??!
Even more outstanding is the way Seth pulled off a modern-day miracle in getting this year's edition put together. Have you all ordered your 2021 HTTV yet, along with a stylish MGoT-shirt or two, plus maybe an additional HTTV or ten to impress your friends?
If yes to any or all of the above, much gratitude to you!
If no...what the ##*@#* heck are you waiting for??! You *##*@ lazy_azz procrastinator slightly forgetful but otherwise wonderful Michigan fan!
(BTW, the magazine comes with something else FREE: an early-arriving free E-Edition)
Let's all show our appreciation of Seth for everything he's done this summer, cranking out FREE MGoContent while also writing for the 2021 HTTV and laughing derisively at the deadlines in front of him.
"How?", you may be asking, "How can I show my appreciation for Seth?"
Easy. Here's how: See that wonderful artwork at the top of the right-hand column? Yeah, the 2021 HTTV magazine cover artwork featuring #8 Ronnie Bell giving his all to make the catch---Click there and pick from a menu of several ordering options. Then remember to THANK SETH both now and later.
You won't regret ordering it. And you certainly will love reading it.
But don't forget, the deadline of 8pm is rapidly bearing down on you.
Just bought mine!! Gonna put it right next to the Kleenex box.
That's either sad or weird, depending on what you'll be using the Kleenex for.
"SEEEETTTTTTTTHHHHHHH"
??!!
For those that haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Seth in person, he is truly a great dude on top of being the backbone of the blog, and the driving force behind HTTV.
Shared many basketball and hockey games ( along with a few free beers at MGoFunctions) and even met his whole family up in Beulah. Hope to see him again at one of the HTTV rollouts.
edit: forgot to say the OP is also righteous. Take him up on a tailgate drop in if you’re lucky enough to get invited.
Thanks, Scanner Blue. I second what you said about Seth. I've only met him once, also up at Beulah last August, but I've had many a conversation with him since he first reached out to me to become a Moderator here. Everything you said about him is ?% true.
Just 9 hours left until the 8pm HTTV deadline.
Great response so far, we've added over $1500 in new pledges since 1am.
Let's show our appreciation by pushing the total to $60,000 and beyond!
Why did Brain Cook abandon ship?
I miss him
You and me both, brother.
Nothing to do with the blog. Dealing with a major personal life thing that it's his prerogative to share when he's ready. Probably back in a week or two.
Seth, thanks for everything you do
He's pooping. Everybody poops. It's not a big deal.
Give Brian our best!
Thanks a bunch for your hard work and skill, Seth.
Gettin' me the digital version. $15 a small price to pay for the opportunity to thank Seth.
I certainly thank Seth for, among other things, filling in some of the moderation gaps despite everything else he does here and, in doing that, being a calmer influence on things than I could ever hope to be in a lot of situations.
Thanks rob.
Piling on to what Rob said, I just listened to the MGoPodCast on the drive into the office this morning. I have to say that your enthusiasm is infectious! Even if it might be a bit over the top given expectations for the year, everything you said about always having something to root for with your team was spot on. So thank you, also, for the booster shot of seasonal excitement...
No - thank you, Seth.
The Seth appreciation part of this is long overdue. Thank you for keeping the site running!
Ordered mine.
Thanks Seth!!
Thanks for the arm-twisting ... I mean your helpful reminder.
(How do you get the strike-through effect? I can do it other places but not here.)
First of all, thanks for your pledge and purchase. Much appreciated!
The strike-through thingies appeared on my regular page around the time I was given mod buttons, but I didn't notice it immediately. Because I didn't see it until a week or so later, I wasn't sure then if it was something everyone gained during a minor upgrade or not.
Just out of curiosity, I checked this year’s to last year’s HTTV statistics:
- 2020: 2,216 backers for a total of $70,822 in total pledges (average of roughly $32/person).
- 2021 (to date): 1832 backers for a total of $56,580 in total pledges (roughly $31/person).
The number of people pledging had declined by 384 and total pledges declined by $14,242. These represent 17% and 20% decreases, respectively. Unfortunately, I don’t have the records from the previous years, so I guess take it FWIW.
I’m also wondering about the cause of this decrease. Lagging enthusiasm for the coming season? Has there been a decrease in blog readership/traffic?
Whatever the cause, come on people, let’s finish strong here and get the MGoStaff paid!
Thanks Blue@ LesSU. I hadn't looked up those figures but suspected we were lagging behind.
Ha. Had to laugh at the spelling of my username. It is certainly appropriate in more than one way (Les and Less). Had to chuckle at that.
You have to compare them by day. These things always make the most money at the beginning and the end for some reason.
The average over the years that MGoBlog has raised money for HTTV is $66,247 per year. The high was around $82,000 and the low was mid $30,000. I’m about to be driving but I will report back the average number of backers compared to this year.
I double posted so here’s the edit with the backers info: average number of backers is 2392. Low was 1562 and high was 3133.
ok - you win....this was the 'push' I needed. DONE!
Rarely post but logged on to thank Seth. Just got finished listening to the WTKA Roundtable and his passion for Michigan is unmatched. Can only imagine how much Brian appreciates him during his personal issue (hope he's doing well).
thanks from New Brunswick Canada Seth
New Brunswick!! Man I was trying to name all 13 provinces and that's the one that stumped me today!
Hopefully I help you remember Seth - Fredericton is the capital city!
Stupidly waited til the last hour and kicstarter would not let me log in. Kept saying -sorry, error on our end. Try again.
Try clearing cache. If you can't get it to work before it ends email me.
Thanks Seth. Finally just gave up and created a new login. Solved it. Can’t wait to read it. BTW - amazing customer service to respond that quickly.
Okay. I'm sending out the surveys right away so make sure you don't log out of the new account.
Got told a close relative, my age, in ICU with Delta variant 5 minutes before Kickstarter ended, is why i am not dancing around publicly right now.
But I got the surveys out please go answer them.
Very sorry about that worrisome news, Seth. I'm hoping and praying for the best possible outcome for your relative and entire family.
Sorry to hear that Seth -- sending good thoughts your way
Thanks Seth!
Thanks for all your hard work, Seth! Looking forward to reading HTTV this year!
