Michigan starts the season ranked, barely. The B1G has 7 teams in the top 25 and 3 teams in the top 10.

Another fun MBB note: Michigan has more NBA draft picks than any other B1G team over the past 10 years.

I think Iowa gets one or two starter-quality players back from injury as well. They should be elite offensively and have experienced depth, but defense remains a question mark. To crg's original comment - I'll believe Iowa at #5 when I see it, but I can definitely buy them as a top 12 or top 10 level team, with top 5 upside if they can manage defensively.

Yes, pg Bohannon will be back.  Dude can shoot and should spread the floor and allow Wieskamp to look like everyone thought he would look last year (not as solid a year as anticipated).  Add to that the sophomore who last year as a freshman showed he can stroke (was forced into playing time due to injuries) and they're quite a formidable squad.

The team this year is an unknown.  We have no idea how good Mike Smith or Hunter Dickinson will be.  If those two are both good, we will be a team with high upside.

If they're just average, our upside is probably limited, even with 2 stars in Franz and Livers.

I am not predicting it but I will also not be surprised if Michigan slowly marches into the top 10. If Livers and Wagner stay healthy and Smith, Brooks, Brown and Johns can elevate their games even a little that will be a dynamic core. I expect Davis to be better than most expect and there is going to be some solid contributions from the freshmen and others.

i'm expecting a big jump for Franz...

no issue with the ranking; they lost X and Teske who were big pieces of their pick and roll game.

Confident that the team will in the top 12-15 by the time the tournament comes around and should be able to secure a regional top 4 seed

I saw a nascent image of a dribble drive offense last year which ought to take root this year,

It seems that is the sort of offense top talent wants to play in so it ought to be a boon for recruiting. Juwan's offense got guys open looks both inside and outside and I'm excited to see how effective it will be with better talent.

I am excited to see what this team looks like this year now that it won't be 85% PnR with Simpson and Teske. Man that got frustrating against teams that knew how to defend it.
