Postgame Gems on The RCMB

Submitted by Mike Damone on November 18th, 2019 at 2:02 PM

Been quite that weekend at the RCMB following the beatdown.  Some really funny stuff from what appears to be a rather unhappy fanbase.  Though there are many quotes to choose from - here are a few gems.  Hope you enjoy:

Well, I must say, these coaching changes are going swimmingly!  Well done, old chap.

What a fun experiment.

I mean, wtf do they talk about in the position meeting room when they review Lewerke's passes? "Uh, nice read Brian, but try not to skip the ball in front of the receiver, nnnkay?"

Dantonio set us back a decade. Nobody will want this job now.

Art Briles is available.

How about the shark ****** at CMU?

Forget the timing of the bonus. Give him the money and get him the fuck out.

Why give him the bonus?  Dudes going to cost us a lot of coin to clean house. He already got his bonus for being allowed to keep those incomps on staff this year.

It's like giving a salesmen a huge bonus by missing his sales target by 50%.

From little brother, to it's never over, back to little brother. This circle is complete.

They are clowns. I hate Dantonio but he took them to heights they hadn't been at in half a century and likely won't get back to for another half a century. Maybe he deserves to go, but he has not "set their program back a decade". Their program has just reverted to what it truly is.

RichRod was a clown, but you're really overrating his recruiting impact.

I've asked about this in other threads: Starting in 2009 (his first full class), which 4-star+ Michigan players with offers from both schools *and* impactful college careers chose Sparty?

RR was already recruiting under a cloud by the next season.

To hear some tell it, he insulted all the HS coaches in the state and didn't get any players from it.

Nah, they're actually pretty fucked right now. I think that person is saying instead of stepping down a year or two ago while things were still in decent shape, he instead stayed on and did a shitty job. Now they have a big recruiting hole which will impact them for at least 2-3 years, and likely much longer.

Heck, a recruiting hole screwed us up for 3-4 years and we have 10x the resources of MSU.

The thing is.... it just doesn't sound or look to me like Dantonio plans on leaving, either.  So, essentially imagine if Brady Hoke came back for a "couple more years" after 2014.  That is kind of what State is looking at right now.  Nobody is going to fire him.  The question is, does he leave voluntarily?  He does not sound like a guy who is ready to do that.

God I hope you’re correct.  MSU literally might be 3-4 win team the next 3 years and recruiting is not helping them.

Watching that smug instigator squirm for a few years would be too good.

Another year like this and he gets the quiet shove out the door.  He would be smart to step down now before he destroys his legacy.

Yeah, the roster implosion is just about to take effect. Just looking at the void of playmakers who will return next year, they must find a QB who is significantly better than Lewerke to give them a shot at 5 wins.  White and Collins are their only decent skill players (Barnett has natural ability) and only 2nd or 3rd string at UM.

Their D could actually be awful with their weak secondary talent already and the offseason losses in the front 7. Willikes, Williams and Bachie are significantly better than anyone behind them.

Building on Urban’s comment, I don’t see any NFL talent on their roster next year.

Cause the AD has no balls.  This ship has been sinking hard and he should not have been allowed to change the titles of his assistants in some crazy attempt at loyalty.  Now he's in an even worse position that his team is cratered, 3/4 of the fan base wants him fired and they have been inept on offense for the better part of 4 years.  Even if he comes to the realization that rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic was a colossal failure, who would even be willing to come over to try to turn that offense around.

No, it's not. Head coaches are in charge of their staffs. The AD is not in a position to know which assistants are underperforming. The head coach is and he's responsible for the results. If the AD isn't happy, he can fire the head coach.

And you're ignoring the reality of the situation at MSU. Dantonio had certainly earned the benefit of the doubt on football matters. A new, caretaker AD that tried to overrule him would have been thrown out on his ear. This wasn't like Zack Smith at OSU where off the field issues were involved.

Jim McElwain would be an interesting hire for them. We could play former Florida coach during the regular season and then Florida during the postseason.

What decent coach would want to coach in East Lansing when the division has M, PU and OSU? It's like taking the Arkansas job. Fickell? No. Campbell? No. Narduzzi? What's he done to deserve a different job? And, No. They will get someone like Butch Jones. Seriously. Maybe Bret Bielema. That's the BEST they can do.

Overheard a bit of "water cooler talk."  Really thought they had the game won when it was 7-0.

Ummmm - their team gave up a 28-3 lead at home vs. Illinois the week before, and these fans thought it was over after scoring once in the first quarter?

You might want to check that water in the cooler - make sure it isn't vodka.  And keep them away from any critical work product.
