Postgame Gems on The RCMB
Been quite that weekend at the RCMB following the beatdown. Some really funny stuff from what appears to be a rather unhappy fanbase. Though there are many quotes to choose from - here are a few gems. Hope you enjoy:
Well, I must say, these coaching changes are going swimmingly! Well done, old chap.
What a fun experiment.
I mean, wtf do they talk about in the position meeting room when they review Lewerke's passes? "Uh, nice read Brian, but try not to skip the ball in front of the receiver, nnnkay?"
Dantonio set us back a decade. Nobody will want this job now.
Art Briles is available.
How about the shark ****** at CMU?
Forget the timing of the bonus. Give him the money and get him the fuck out.
Why give him the bonus? Dudes going to cost us a lot of coin to clean house. He already got his bonus for being allowed to keep those incomps on staff this year.
It's like giving a salesmen a huge bonus by missing his sales target by 50%.
From little brother, to it's never over, back to little brother. This circle is complete.

Great place with a tall cup of coffee to spend some time reading the last couple days worth of rants...thanks for sharing!

They are clowns. I hate Dantonio but he took them to heights they hadn't been at in half a century and likely won't get back to for another half a century. Maybe he deserves to go, but he has not "set their program back a decade". Their program has just reverted to what it truly is.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:16 PM ^
If Rich Rod isn't hired, he would have been canned half a decade ago. Ton of high end guys that were gift wrapped due to our inept recruiting at the time.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:57 PM ^
RichRod was a clown, but you're really overrating his recruiting impact.
I've asked about this in other threads: Starting in 2009 (his first full class), which 4-star+ Michigan players with offers from both schools *and* impactful college careers chose Sparty?
RR was already recruiting under a cloud by the next season.
To hear some tell it, he insulted all the HS coaches in the state and didn't get any players from it.
November 18th, 2019 at 3:40 PM ^
RR ignored Michigan and the Midwest to go get his 3 star mafia guys from Florida. Ignoring those Midwest kids meant that many went to MSU. Combine that recruiting benefit with RR's general ineptness and you have the making of a solid sparty program.
November 18th, 2019 at 3:50 PM ^
So, is it safe to assume that most in the mgocommunity would have no issues, in fact would accept with open arms if MSU were to hire Rich Rod?
I cant honestly say I would not be real comfortable with it. Lower acceptance criteria, would likely get more time than he got here.
November 18th, 2019 at 3:56 PM ^
Oh, MSU, please, Please, PLEASE hire Rich Rod! I would donate to a fund to make this happen.
November 18th, 2019 at 4:45 PM ^
Me too. I'd throw some dinero that way.
November 18th, 2019 at 6:10 PM ^
The msu defense would give up 50 points a game if they hired RR.
November 18th, 2019 at 3:46 PM ^
Speaking of richrod, in the same thread where they were talking about art briles being available they suggested richrod as the next sparty coach which drew a bunch of breathless "omg can you imagine beating michigan with richrod!!@!" replies.
Thought that was super funny.
Cheers.

Nah, they're actually pretty fucked right now. I think that person is saying instead of stepping down a year or two ago while things were still in decent shape, he instead stayed on and did a shitty job. Now they have a big recruiting hole which will impact them for at least 2-3 years, and likely much longer.
Heck, a recruiting hole screwed us up for 3-4 years and we have 10x the resources of MSU.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:20 PM ^
The thing is.... it just doesn't sound or look to me like Dantonio plans on leaving, either. So, essentially imagine if Brady Hoke came back for a "couple more years" after 2014. That is kind of what State is looking at right now. Nobody is going to fire him. The question is, does he leave voluntarily? He does not sound like a guy who is ready to do that.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:35 PM ^
Dantonio isn't leaving because of a loss.
If he was planning to step down after this season, he would have told his players last week to fire them up even more.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:39 PM ^
I don't think he would leave because of a loss.
I thought he would leave due to sucking super hard and not having the first clue how to suck any less for the foreseeable future.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:48 PM ^
He still has lots of permutations of his staff to try. One is bound to work.
November 18th, 2019 at 3:00 PM ^
God I hope you’re correct. MSU literally might be 3-4 win team the next 3 years and recruiting is not helping them.
Watching that smug instigator squirm for a few years would be too good.
Another year like this and he gets the quiet shove out the door. He would be smart to step down now before he destroys his legacy.
November 18th, 2019 at 4:27 PM ^
Yeah, the roster implosion is just about to take effect. Just looking at the void of playmakers who will return next year, they must find a QB who is significantly better than Lewerke to give them a shot at 5 wins. White and Collins are their only decent skill players (Barnett has natural ability) and only 2nd or 3rd string at UM.
Their D could actually be awful with their weak secondary talent already and the offseason losses in the front 7. Willikes, Williams and Bachie are significantly better than anyone behind them.
Building on Urban’s comment, I don’t see any NFL talent on their roster next year.

Cause the AD has no balls. This ship has been sinking hard and he should not have been allowed to change the titles of his assistants in some crazy attempt at loyalty. Now he's in an even worse position that his team is cratered, 3/4 of the fan base wants him fired and they have been inept on offense for the better part of 4 years. Even if he comes to the realization that rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic was a colossal failure, who would even be willing to come over to try to turn that offense around.
November 18th, 2019 at 3:25 PM ^
The current AD was hired by Dantonio w/an assist by Izzo. This AD isn't firing him.
November 18th, 2019 at 3:27 PM ^
Nominally, the AD was Dantonio's boss. That's not the reality of the situation. In any case, ADs that meddle in what roles the coach gives his assistants are overstepping. That's a Dave Brandon move.
November 18th, 2019 at 5:00 PM ^
Not suggesting they sit in the film session ala Brandon but it is will within an AD's role to demand a coach replace mediocre or underperforming assistant coaches.
November 18th, 2019 at 5:16 PM ^
No, it's not. Head coaches are in charge of their staffs. The AD is not in a position to know which assistants are underperforming. The head coach is and he's responsible for the results. If the AD isn't happy, he can fire the head coach.
And you're ignoring the reality of the situation at MSU. Dantonio had certainly earned the benefit of the doubt on football matters. A new, caretaker AD that tried to overrule him would have been thrown out on his ear. This wasn't like Zack Smith at OSU where off the field issues were involved.
November 18th, 2019 at 10:15 PM ^
The AD is absolutely in a position to know which assistants are underperforming. He can see the results on the field, just like all of us. MSU’s offense has been terrible by every measure.
November 19th, 2019 at 11:27 AM ^
Mork will be hard pressed to bring in a new O coordinator. Who would want it figuring Mork has one year to turn it around with little to no talent coming back.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:14 PM ^
Jim McElwain would be an interesting hire for them. We could play former Florida coach during the regular season and then Florida during the postseason.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:42 PM ^
I was perusing the RCMBs over the weekend. A lot of Spartoons are convinced that McElwain will be the next HC @ MSU. Nothing like reaching for the sky! They're also convinced that Fickell won't even be remotely interested.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:54 PM ^
I believe that about Fickell!! I've seen some talk on 11Wankers that they think Day will eventually leave for the NFL and Fickell will be the guy to step in.
November 18th, 2019 at 3:03 PM ^
That actually makes me feel sorry for Fickell for a moment.
He's like Forrest waiting to bang Jenny but Jenny has her eyes on everyone else.
November 18th, 2019 at 3:47 PM ^
The day an OSU head coach leaves for the NFL is the day I believe in love
November 18th, 2019 at 5:04 PM ^
Should we listen to the rhythm of your heart?
November 18th, 2019 at 9:57 PM ^
Perhaps Stephen Ross can short-list Day in Miami in a couple of years.
November 18th, 2019 at 6:56 PM ^
Please, oh please let this happen. Like now.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:23 PM ^
Art Briles is available? Wow.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:30 PM ^
In reality Briles fits perfectly for that whole athletic department.
November 18th, 2019 at 3:07 PM ^
Wouldn't even miss a beat on the whole gang rape thing.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:38 PM ^
Well that shoe would fit.
November 18th, 2019 at 3:13 PM ^
I assume that was a depressed/drunk intentional self-burn? I hope?
November 18th, 2019 at 2:25 PM ^
I love reading game day threads at RCMB when they lose. It's always classic. At least they didn't try to blame this loss on the refs.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:27 PM ^
I'm impressed by their self awareness. "Dantonio set us back a decade." Yep
November 18th, 2019 at 2:53 PM ^
IDK, there is a lot of talent around. A good coach can do good things at MSU. A seven win season will jump start recruiting.
November 18th, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
Why would top talent want to play for the 5th best team in the division, that can't even keep their kids out of prison, much less put them in the NFL?
November 18th, 2019 at 3:27 PM ^
What decent coach would want to coach in East Lansing when the division has M, PU and OSU? It's like taking the Arkansas job. Fickell? No. Campbell? No. Narduzzi? What's he done to deserve a different job? And, No. They will get someone like Butch Jones. Seriously. Maybe Bret Bielema. That's the BEST they can do.
November 18th, 2019 at 3:04 PM ^
All those bullets were good. I wonder how many "fuck scUMs" the OP had to wade through to get to the content?
November 18th, 2019 at 4:04 PM ^
the fact that anyone affiliated even loosely with that rat-infested shithole of university would presume to refer to even the Walmartiest Wolverine as scUM is a level of absence of self-awareness i cannot even comprehend.
November 18th, 2019 at 4:43 PM ^
Yeah... I never said logic and reason applies to Sharty though. Ha! Name calling is all they got.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:34 PM ^
Overheard a bit of "water cooler talk." Really thought they had the game won when it was 7-0.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:46 PM ^
Ummmm - their team gave up a 28-3 lead at home vs. Illinois the week before, and these fans thought it was over after scoring once in the first quarter?
You might want to check that water in the cooler - make sure it isn't vodka. And keep them away from any critical work product.
