MGoBloggers - I am looking for advice on how to execute the perfect outfit and amount of clothing for going to today’s game. 51 and rain, 12mph winds.

additionally, perfect amount of alcohol consumption prior to game tips are appreciated as well.

A quality Nike Golf rain suit would take care of everything + the right boots.  I paid probably $175 for mine at a decent golf shop.    Could wear that thing in a hurricane.

There's a couple reasons for an avid golfer to have one.   Scenarios:

1.   You're on the course for 4-5 hours at a time, sometimes you just get a rainy half hour.   Pull on your gear and stay out there.    It sucks to get soaked and try to keep playing.

2.  If you plan a trip to a nice course hours from home, like Arcadia Bluffs in the spring.  That round has been on the calendar for months, so you're ready for anything.  Strap on the gear and hope for the best.  It's an outdoor activity, after all.

If its just straight up going to pour all day, it's rain check (literally I guess).   The best "bad days" are when you're out there ready for anything and peeling back your rain gear as the nice weather rolls in.

what outfit to wear during todays UM-ND game? ...I would suggest whatever is comfortable whilst sitting on one's couch

it will likely be raining for the entire game, with a high around 50 degrees, but w/wind it'll feel like the low 40's - my "hat's off" to anyone braving those elements, but you'll likely have your (rain) 'hat on'

good things!

can't find my rain pants, so i think i'm going to wear a very light pair of chest waders.

wear a pair of old running shoes and its easy to walk around, completely dry, and does maintain some  warmth

If you can’t find or buy expensive waterproof stuff, make sure to plastic bag your socks before putting into shoes/boots. Wear the least absorbent pants material - jeans and such will be wet cold and heavy. Throw some warm ups or something less permeable over your pants. Dress in layers. Don’t forget hoods and hats to keep your vision clear. Top the whole thing in a crappy plastic poncho. Throw your phone and card/cash in a ziplock- you usually use your phone through the plastic.

garbage bags.

Otherwise, waterproof ski/snow gear (jacket, pants, gloves) would work. It'll keep you dry and warm during the game. Shoes, of course, must also be waterproof. I recommend winter or hiking boots.
