Yeah RCMB has a bunch of people claiming they’ve heard it from sources they trust. Apparently Comparoni at Spartanmag feels it’s a lock too. Fickell is acting weird by not denying interest. Seems like a lot of smoke for it not to be true. Not that Fickell is the grand slam Sparties think he is, but it’s the best they could hope for.

He is correct. HE is not talking to MSU, his agent and handlers on the other hand??? Seriously don't know (or really care) what is going on with Sparty. But these are the situations that you have to be very literal about what someone is saying.
I am sure the Fickell is not talking to MSU, but I would have to believe that Sparty has contacted his agent for exploratory discussions.

Fickell is their choice. Which isn’t bad. But it’s very low upside. He will manage to keep them respectable, but nothing more. I’m glad they are going this route supposed to taking a swing for the fences with a young offensive mind.

Fickell won 11 games in each of the last 2 seasons. And he’s a great recruiter. He could easily have them back in regular contention, but he could also be a dud.

I don't think Sparty could do any better than Fickle. They lose out on him and they'll have to take Tressell for a year just so they can get in the normal cycle after next season.

Sounds like Fickell. He was on ESPNU radio today talking about his recruiting class at Cincinnati. Then he bails in a day or two to take the Staee job leaving all those kids high and dry. He will fit right in at Staee.

It’s a complete scumbag move by Fickell to tell his recruits he hadn’t talked to anyone at MSU and then strike a deal on national signing day after they all signed. But at least he is carrying on the tradition of Dantonio of being an unlikable dick.

Glenn Sugiyama is a Chicago based expert head Hunter for coaches. He handled the search. So Fickell didn’t talk to MSU (except Dantonio who is a close friend).

If Fickle is getting hired by MSU, somebody at MSU royally screwed up by letting that news slip out before the contract was signed. It tilts the negotiating table in Fickel's favor.

MSU is hiring Luke Fickell, he was their first choice. They reached out to Narduzzi and several others to gauge interest in case Fickell fell through. Fickell has called a meeting with his Cincinnati players this morning and a press conference at MSU will them be scheduled in East Lansing for this afternoon.
Sounds like the paperwork is signed now, but if it isn’t and things somehow fell through, the 49ers DC is their next choice, followed by Pat Shurmur.
Fickell is a good coach and a good fit for the. He’d be their first really good recruiter since Saban. Word is he’s bring his offensive staff, but that MSU would keep DC Tressel and their D alone coach. They also might add Harlon Barnett back as DB coach.
Very good hire for MSU, should get them back to 8+ wins very quickly with a higher ceiling

It seems like some have been buying into the BS at spartantailgate. Even they have backtracked because their ONE source seems to be Comp at spartanmag. There is no one confirming a presser at MSU today or a player meeting in Cincy and even Rico is tweeting that the search continues.
Michigan fans know how this thing works. Hope, rumor, flight tracking, more rumor, rejection, rumor, questionable rejection, fake sightings, real estate investigation, rumor....
