The more I read about the Braves, the more I like them.
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:18 PM ^
Edit: they have a bigger payroll than I thought so my remark about being small-market is off, I meant that to mean middle of the road but it's a bit higher than that even.
They're a likeable squad for sure. Of course I'm bias but it seems a very cold take. Yes, Ozuna had an issue this season and won't ever return because of it. But I mean, Freddie Freeman is one of the best humans alive.
They're a small ish market team and have built and built through the given system to get where they are. And they're doing all of this without one of the best players in the game, injured back in July. The pickups their GM went out and got before the deadline after the aforementioned Acuna went down should be memorialized if they can hold on and win this series

Anthopoulos was in Toronto a few years back and Bautista had some choice words about him not making moves mid-season when they were sitting pretty for the playoffs. Anthopoulos said this post season he learned from that mistake and that's what led to all the outfield acquisitions this summer.
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:20 PM ^
I agree young lady. They have overcome injuries to get where they are today. Kind of a Cinderella story in baseball. Should be an exciting finish tonight.
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:32 PM ^
Love that the manager has been with the organization for 40+ years and worked his way up. Love that they have a soft serve machine (!!) in the clubhouse and that's been credited as making it more fun to play. Freddie Freeman is a great human. And I like Max Fried.
November 2nd, 2021 at 11:03 PM ^
Really pulling for the Braves. Was there for the 95 win, which was awesome.
Just a random Freddy Freeman story. I remember during Atlanta’s snowstorm in 2014 which crippled the city, Chipper Jones hopped on his atv and went out to rescue Freddy, who had been stuck in traffic for like 5 hours.

Glad Braves won…Fried is from my area and went to my Elementary and High School. Was also on the same High School team at the same time as Cardinals’ Jack Flagherty and White Sox’s Lucas Giolito…who were at the game with Max’s high school coach. Happy he got the win tonight that clinched the World Series.
November 3rd, 2021 at 1:31 AM ^
Wow. Feel bad for the rest of the conference with those 3 on the same roster!
November 3rd, 2021 at 12:29 PM ^
They all went to Harvard Westlake which is a hotbed of baseball talent. It's surprising, too, because it's a private school in Los Angeles so someone must be funding the baseball program with college or pro readiness in mind. They won the national championship this year.

Dansby Swanson is from my area. He lived probably 20 minutes from where I grew up and went to a rival high school. By all accounts, a fantastic family. If he and Mallory Pugh (USWNT) get married and have kids, there will be some serious sporting expectations!

I am rooting for the Braves, if for no other reason than for mgohillbilly.
Read a humorous headline the other day: “nation unites behind hatred of Astros “
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:26 PM ^
I concur, XM. Also not difficult to dislike the Astro's.
Go Braves⚾⚾⚾
November 2nd, 2021 at 10:04 PM ^
Is there a game tonight? Jk, everyone in Atlanta will be hung over tomorrow one way or the other. Speaking of which, I still need to send you that seagrass, Blue. Also got the new Elijah Craig Barrel Proof C921 batch and it's a hitter (pun intended).
November 2nd, 2021 at 10:16 PM ^
Wassup buddy ???
Drinking a generous pour of C921 right now ?
Will connect with you tomorrow via email ?
Go Braves ⚾⚾⚾

I predict at some point they will be forced into a mascot change.....
the cowards would be safe, but braves..... probably not! The Skins and Chief Wahoo won't be the last to go down.
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:17 PM ^
Soler is ummm, not human.
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:58 PM ^
Braves have a number of hitters doing well, but Soler has 3 HR and 6 RBI that may give him the edge for MVP.
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:21 PM ^
Soler home run was a bomb, Go Braves!
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:22 PM ^
How can it be a true World Series when it's two National League teams playing each other?
Get off my lawn.
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:33 PM ^
Yes. Houston being in the American League is just wrong.
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:34 PM ^
And so is Milwaukee being in the NL. It's a perversion of nature.
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:40 PM ^
All signs of the coming apocalypse.
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:58 PM ^
I member, but always seemed to me Milwaukee, like the Braves, was destined to be an NL team. Sorry showing may age.
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:34 PM ^
Ha! What if the Brewers were in it?!
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:40 PM ^
Yeah, it just feels like a regular old NLCS to me.
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:42 PM ^
How did the Expos do this year?
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:53 PM ^
They've got some good prospects, like Delino DeShields and Larry Walker. I like 'em to go far in '94.
November 3rd, 2021 at 2:29 PM ^
Ah yes, remember when the NL West included Atlanta, Houston, and LA (and Cincy)? That division alignment made a lot of sense.
Aside from the NLDS against the Brewers, it was like an old-time NL West reunion for the Braves.
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:33 PM ^
Braves! My daughter is watching on the stadium Jumbotron. $10 tickets and people are in the outfield. The Battery is packed, too.
November 3rd, 2021 at 3:03 PM ^
That was so neat to see when they cut to a shot inside the stadium where people laid out blankets in the field and were basically picnicking.
Were the able to bring in balls/gloves and play catch? Probably not, but that would've been great. Pretty awesome, regardless.
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:33 PM ^
Braves Braves Braves baby
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:37 PM ^
I want the Braves to win so baseball is over
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:38 PM ^
Strohs reliever is thrown 25 pictures and doesn’t even have an out as he starts his second inning of work. Braves might be able to get a run here
What is the deal with the Braves base runner having that red mitten on?
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:47 PM ^
For sliding purposes. Protects against cleats, etc.
November 2nd, 2021 at 10:05 PM ^
I'm glad Fried didn't need one on his ankle
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:50 PM ^
That's to protect his hand when sliding headfirst. Also comes in handy when taking hot items out of the oven ?
November 2nd, 2021 at 9:54 PM ^
Thanks guys. I’m old-school, and it seems like too much equipment. And yes, Rockford, it does indeed look like an oven mitt.
November 2nd, 2021 at 10:01 PM ^
Trout screwed up his thumb sliding head first into second. Missed a bunch of games a now wears a mitt.
Also, the mitt puts the player 2” closer to the bag!

GO BRAVES
November 2nd, 2021 at 10:23 PM ^
I do want the Braves to win because I don't really like the Astros. Would have been cool to see Dusty Baker win one though.
November 2nd, 2021 at 10:41 PM ^
Good bye baseball!!!
Home run Freddie Freeman!!!
November 2nd, 2021 at 11:32 PM ^
