OT: Which team will win more games this season - Colorado or Michigan State?
Where did Sanders coach again? What conference?
SWAC. Where he took over a program that went 4-8 the year prior. 5-5 the year before that. 3-8 the year before that. Hadnt had a winning season since 2013. And then went 27-6.
He objectively did a great job there. Which is more than Mel can say at either of his coaching stops. So I’ll ask once again, how exactly has Mel proven to be the better coach?
You can argue that winning a bunch of games in the SWAC doesn't mean much, but how exactly has Tucker proven anything?
Colorado's best case is probably 3 wins (CSU, Stanford, Arizona) while MSU could maybe win 5 (CMU, Richmond, Rutgers, Nebraska, and Indiana).
Both will suck.
They had very close games last year with Rutgers and Indiana. Indiana went to double overtime. And both games were at East Lansing. Both are on the road this year. It's going to be a tough year for State.
I think Nebraska (4-8 last year) and Arizona State (3-9) are potentially winnable games for Colorado. Nebraska is breaking in a new coach (their third in two years if you count the interim guy last year) and Arizona State lost to Eastern last year (although admittedly they did win the Idaho Potato Bowl).
I'm not saying Colorado will win; with all the roster turnover and this being Deion's first P5 coaching job, I have no idea how good they'll actually be.
Going with Prime
Posted this in another thread...
I have Sparty beating CMU and Richmond. @Indiana, Nebraska, Maryland and @Rutgers could produce some L's.
The rest...forget about it.
Washington
@Iowa
Michigan
@Minnesota
@Ohio State
Penn State
3-9 would not be a shocker.
Central might not be a certainty.
State fans are having splintered reactions today: some acting like nothing is happening, some starting to call for Tuck to be fired, some some not feeling so good.

yyyyyyyyyyyyup. the existence of repeated discussions of colorado and deion sanders on this board is utterly mystifying.
It's one of the biggest stories of this college football offseason - if not the biggest.
You are, of course, free to ignore it if you want.
if only.
MSU, almost certainly.
Colorado may be better suited for long term success if Deion can continue recruiting at a high level, but his team has absolutely no depth right now. As of last week they had only 20 scholarship players on the roster.
20.
Yes, transfers will likely come in, but they will not have the benefit of having spring practice to get acclimated. As of right now, Deion doesn’t even have enough players to field a starting squad without having to dip into walk-ons. Couple that with having a schedule that includes TCU, Nebraska (a team that has some talent but just needs direction and an adult in the room), USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Utah. These guys are going to get run off the field multiple times next year.
MSU has issues, but they don’t have the depth problems that Colorado has. Not even close.
I imagine MSU wins more than Colorado, especially with Sanders starting almost completely from what seems like ground level given the amount of turnover. Still, there is much more of a visceral delight in the idea that MSU could utterly blow, if they hemorrhage much more.
Another Colorado/prime thread? WTF, who cares!!!
What is Prime and/or Mel doing today? A recurring MGoBlog series.
It's annoying, but frankly what else is there to talk about? Michigan has 1 serious question going into the football season, which is the 2nd CB spot. Everything else was settled by spring ball, if not before.
We're a fanbase used to churn and anxiety to fill the months between January and September! We don't know what to do with the deafening silence of stability!
Colorado
7LMel won 11 games and it couldn't have been just Walker, so I'll take MSU here. Sanders need another year or two. Take note that this isn't how I want it.
it couldn't have been just Walker
Mel's career record with KW3 is 11-2.
Without him it's 12-19.
And the 1 game they played without KW3 (when he was hurt), MSU got crushed by OSU 56-7. That game was 49-0 at halftime. That same OSU team, by the way, would go on to lose 42-27 to Michigan the following week.
So you could argue Mel's career with KW3 is actually 11-1, and without it's 12-20.
I will appropriately accept my face slap here. It's just hard to believe a RB can't have that much effect.
Colorado might have the toughest schedule in D1 ,i dont see them winning 2 games . Will Colorado have an 85 man roster ? i kinda want them to go 0-12
I'll take MSU. I'm not convinced that Colorado is going to win 3 games. They have multiple players who transferred in already transferring out
It looks like Colorado only needs to add 22 more players. Will Keon Coleman be one of those 22?
Doubt it. He's from Louisiana so I'd bet on the SEC.
1-11 for each
Colorado will win 2 games. Has a chance at 4. MSU beats that but barely.
For the Michigan faithful living in Colorado, the best part of Mel bailing on CU to go to MSU is now so many Coloradoans despise Sparty.
If CU does well with Prime, they'll be rubbing it in State's face for years to come.
I first glance you probably think MSU will win more games. But if we wait a few more days and they lose a few more quality players . . .
One team wins 3 games and one wins 2. I would’ve been MSU on the three side until the portal news today.
Both teams have tough schedules. Without Thorne and Coleman (and toss in Brantley), not sure how Mel finds 3 wins this year.

I think they'll tie. Both teams will be 4-8 this season.
MSU has more winnable games on their schedule. Colorado has a touch non conference set
I think MSU wins 3-4 games next year and Tucker gets "on the hot seat". He clears out his assistant staff, gets a better recruiting group in, shows promises on recruiting the 2026 class, sticks around until 2029, then MSU fires him (buyout is manageable and they don't want to renew his contract).
How do you recruit after a 3-4 win season though? Get out your popcorn.
I think Sparty wins 5, no more than 7. Be very surprised if Coach Prime can be better then .500. He’s still got tons of roster spots to fill. If he can bring in talent, develop it, and be above .500 in Year 1, he’s Coach of he Year. Doubt that Mel will be in the running for that.
Colorado
I'll make my prediction, Colorado gets Bowl Eligible in Coach Prime's first season and they play the 6-6 Spartards in the Uncle Bumblefuck bowl and beat them.
I like the cut of your jib.
