OT: What are your other interests?

Submitted by MGJS SuperKick Party on
We're getting near the end of the OT system, and Nike had passed us by until 1 pm... But I was wondering, what are everyone's interests outside of Michigan Athletics? I am an avid golfer, I used to better than I am now, but I can still hold my own. I know more about golf clubs than I would like to admit. I love Walt Disney World. It's one of my favorite places on planet earth. I actually listen to multiple Disney Podcasts during the day. Craft beer and coffee are fun "hobbies", but are expensive.

I dabble in smoking various meats. Although I need a new smoker. I have yet to find a decent BBQ in the tricity area. I may have to start my own business. I like to go camping although I don't get to go camping much. I also enjoy trying to get my wife to knock boots with me.

Love smoking ribs and pulled pork. Pork butts are cheap and really hard to mess up. Did a brisket last year but they are really expensive. Next thing to try are burnt ends. There is a place in Belmont called the grilling company that does amazing ribs and burnt ends. Have yet to find anyplace in my area that makes burnt ends.

Check out my eBay seller name gzlures1019. I have a couple really good tuna baits on auction right now. The blue back/purple belly bait is a Zutt's Lure from Hawaii that is a very good tuna bait. Won a bunch of tournaments. You can also check out my recently sold stuff to get an idea as to what I have. I have a ton of stuff not listed as well. I focus more on the custom trolling stuff and veer away from the Tuna feather baits/Zukers. Anything ranging from 7" to 16"+ teaser size. I can send you some pictures of other stuff I have. You can shoot me an email at [email protected] and we can communicate more there. Thanks dude! Hope to hear from you soon. I've been waiting to offer someone my "Go Blue" discount. Ha.

1 - Church matters - where I can help.  I lead a Sunday prayer group, I prepare study materials (Scripture hand-outs et al) for Fellowship meetings, and am on 2 committees.

2 - Teaching an ESL class

3 - Food - Introducing my wife to American food - she's a quick learner, already can do burgers on the grill. In the mean time I'm getting hooked on her Chinese cooking.

4 - Classic rock

I got married earlier this year, so adjusting to married life. I am preparing for CPA study/prep in 2017, which unfortunately has become an interest.  Football of course, even coaching little league.  PS4 when I'm free, taking up golf and loving it. Lot of comedy shows.  Living in DC provides a lot of options for new things.

Lot's of flowers and vegetable produce. I also "garden". Poppies, mostly, with some salvia, peyote and betel nut thrown in for good measure.

My hobbies are somewhat seasonal and can move around as things catch my fancy, assuming that they aren't a blow to the budget. I enjoy sailing quite a bit in the summer, going a couple of times a week at the local club and even racing occasionally (I've won a couple against not-so-great competition but who cares it was fun). I've also recently taken up some casual RC Truck bashing. I like cycling, though I don't do it as much as I ought to, and my wife and I have taken up table tennis a fair amount together.

In the winter, I'm not a good skiier but I enjoy going, and my kids are picking it up rather well thanks to a dirt-cheap lesson program offered at our local hill. I like amateur computer tinkering and have built my own dual-boot PC (which I need to work on this evening). I also relish the occasional opportunity to write something longer than a board post.

Spring is a real weakness of this particular region of the country and it is mostly spent waiting for summer to get here. Outdoor activity options are limited and after disappointing ends to hockey and basketball season (they are always disappointing in one way or another) there isn't a lot to follow in sports. Fall, of course, is consumed with one sport to the exclusion of many other interests.

My passion is constructing and preaching Bible messages, but you probably already guessed that, and that is something of an occupation for me rather than a hobby. And, of course, I love spending time with my wife and my kids.

I usually walk 9 holes off the back so there's nobody out there, sun coming up through the trees, finished in an hour and 10 min, awesome.

Other than that I love going to the shooting range, and having a nice cigar with glass of whiskey (bourbon, scotch, or irish, bring em on)

Golf. Beer. Used to be solely craft beer but nowadays I drink 95% of beer offered or available. Fantasy Sports especially hockey . Red Wings. Half-hearted Lions and Tigers. Lake vacations. Teaching my son how to golf and play all the sports to find his favorite and best sport. Napping on Sundays.
