OT: Virignia's De'Andre Hunter out for the tourny

Submitted by ThatGuyCeci on

Virginia just announced Freshman De'Andre Hunter will miss the entire NCAA tourny with a broken wrist. Hunter was the team's sixth man, and he also won the ACC Sixth Man of the Year Award. According to ESPN, he was considered by NBA executives to be the teams top pro prospect. Just when I thought I liked my bracket... welp

Yeah he’s a crucial reason for their success this year. A smooth, long wing player who can score from anywhere and guard 1-4. Opens up their offense a ton and is a zone murderer. They can’t really replace him. Sucks bad.

There are players on the roster who can drive, players who can shoot threes, players who can shoot free throws, and players who can post up, but Hunter's the only one who can do all of the above.  This sucks massively big-time and IMO downgrades the highest reasonable expectation from championship to Final Four.

We'll always have the UNC game, which Hunter personally iced from the free throw line, shooting with a broken wrist.

So what we're saying here is that my confidence in Virginia to make a decent run in my bracket is now on shaky ground? Well, I wouldn't have submitted it as is if I had known this.

In all seriousness though, I wish him a full and speedy recovery.

If you don't know what "corch" means, here's a good link.

"A particularly inept coach, especially one who manages to evade firing by having talented players on his or her roster. As a coach becomes more and more useless, the "a" slowly morphs into an "r."

Alternately, "Corch" may be used as a verb, as in, to "Corch" a kid up.

Inadvertently coined by U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown on the House floor (in reference to "Corch Irvin Myers" of Florida)."

Example:

ESPN Analyst #1: How did USC go from pre-season #1 to a middle-of-the Pac football team?
ESPN Analyst #2: Lane Kiffin is one helluva Corch.

Seth's bracket assist had UVA a double digit favorite over Zona before this. Do you really think one player is a 10-12 point swing, thin bench or otherwise?

Just brutal. Something seems to happen to Virginia every year. Justin Anderson's broken finger a few years ago, Isaiah Wilkins' mono last year and now Hunter

In the Fab 48 in Vegas, I watched him destroy both Miles Bridges and Josh Jackson. He recieved his offer from Virginia that same day. This is a huge loss
