OT - Urban Chophouse being sold and rebranded to Chophouse 614

As per the title.

After having flamed out with the Jags, everyone in Columbus knew the whole time that Urban Meyer wasn't actually a good guy. Cayman Nebraska's Grindhouse is now going by Chophouse 614, a generically corporate moniker that should fit right in with its Short North neighborhood.  (For all you Detroiters reading this, the Short North is basically our Royal Oak, but with fewer giraffes)  Area code branding is the last refuge of the unimaginative.

This personally doesn't move the needle for me as I wasn't going to eat here anyways, but for any fellow Ohioans or other MGoTravellers passing through the 614, here's your notice that you only have a limited time to swing by this fine dining establishment and perhaps sip on the Shelleytini:

From the linked review upthread, which I highly encourage you all to read:

It is served in a huge martini glass and is comprised of: Finlandia, aperol, agave, pineapple, lemon, and hibiscus. After these ingredients are poured out of a monstrous shaker into the glass that is placed on your table and garnished with dried lemons and limes, along with a pair of presumably edible flowers, someone pours half a bottle of sparkling rose into it. It is for up to six people.

Remember, if you consume that behemoth with any few people, you might get so wasted that you'll find yourself mumbling "who is this he keeps dining with me"

But but but, we were told Urban is back in Columbus working with Ryan Day and how to get back at the Wolverines. They certainly wouldn’t change the name if Urban was back in Columbus

I don't understand why someone would tattoo and area code on their body, but athlete appear to think it's cool.

"Area code branding is the last refuge of the unimaginative."

A long time ago I made out with a girl I met at a bar.  I was going to take her home but I discovered that she had a necklace with our area code on it because she wanted to represent.  It sort of sobered me up and I went home without her.

Is Royal Oak generic and corporate now? When I was a kid in the 90s I thought it was gritty, which it probably was compared to Birmingham or Beverly Hills. Obviously I don't get back to Metro Detroit much these days.

Very corporate. A lot of the college students who stick around metro-Detroit after graduation live there. A lot of "upscale" establishments. We don't go much there anymore for dinners. Pretty annoying when you're trying to enjoy a meal on a Friday or Saturday in the summer and you have biker assholes standing around outside revving their engines.

Ehh, I disagree with that. Berkley doesn't have nearly as much going for it as Ferndale in terms of things to do. Maybe two or three places to eat that are decent. And the cultural vibe is a lot different. Having lived in Berkley recently, there's still very much of an old Berkley versus new Berkley divide, more so than the other Woodward corridor.

Well I’ll all say is regardless of the name there are lots of cool places to eat here in Columbus and Urban Meyers chop house wouldn’t be on my top list before or after the bake change ?

That sucks. My wife and I were going to re-create the “grind” photo for our next Christmas card. My vision was to shoot it from inside the restaurant (with menu in photo). We wouldn’t order anything, obviously, LOL. I guess we need to find a plan b.

We live in Jax so it’s appropriate.
