OT Uniformz: Tennesee's new Nike alternates

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Tennessee just left adidas and will officially begin with Nike tomorrow.

Their alternate uniformz have leaked and uh....yikes

Hopefully this isn't in violation of the MGoUniformzOrdinance code. But since tomorrow is the day and Tennessee is back in Nike.....

Agreed. When Nike shows the M jerseys as normal blue home and normal white with maize pants for road this will all end.

I would like to see a normal all blue alternate uniform (similar to the psu night game) just with normal numbers. And if M or Nike is feeling frisky a chrome helmet wouldn't be that awful for 1 game.

I think the M helmet would look in any form/design as long as the color concepts are the same. Matte looked very cool IMO. I'm not saying change it forever. I just wouldn't freak out. Look how big of a deal was made with the PSU night game uniforms...and they ended up being okay (if I dare say favorable to a large portion of the fan base).

Chrome & Matte. Don't see how they make that much of a difference.

I seriously think everyone else does it to "fit in" and feel a part of a common community, and for not other reason. Obviously some truly think most of these uniforms are ugly, but I think that at least 50% of these people will say any new or alternate uniform Is ugly just to go along with the trend. It's annoying as hell.

We have the best uniforms in the world.  There are only negative reasons to change them.

Michigan folk fear the uniformz trend simply due to fanhood and pride; it is the opposite of going along with a trend.

So, what you're saying is, people who participate actively in online forums like to feel part of a community. Well shave my legs and call me Bessie if that isn't the most insightful insight I've seen today.

If I were just trying to fit in then I would be telling you how amazing these are, because they are Nike, but I'm not. They're grey/greyer/black mountain range silhouette helmets on a team who's school colors do not include grey. They're tacky, just like 95% of the other alternate uniforms teams will wear this season. The constant stream of new jerseys are a platform for advertising by the manufacturers so they want them to be gaudy so people will talk about them.

I usually don't mind uniformz, but these are just awful. I like Tennessee's current unis already. They don't need an update.

On a side note... all these apparel and uniformz threads are driving me insane. The season can't start soon enough!

Only equivalent up here would've been if Moeller worked with shady members of the Victors club to push Bo out (Only a dream that Sparty could dream).

So the complete opposite of that is Moeller pleading with Bo to stay as HC, even if it meant Bo doing a whole lot less and Mo doing a whole lot more (Reality).

I liked the Louisville adidas ones people here flipped out about a lot more than these, for two, these aren't even that bad. I get what they're going for with the contrast and it's pretty simple still.

look like they were designed for bad arena football squads. Both companies will continue to turn out disposable crap--and hit or miss crap*--as long as there is a market for it. To go all tribal and insist that one or the other of the companies is great and the other one awful is. . . distressingly lame. One expects more from thinking people.

What we need--from whoever makes the unis from now on--are assurances that our iconic uniforms do not get screwed with too much, that's all.

*Personally, I liked the first UTL unis and hated hated hated the MSU uniforms. But this stuff is very much a matter of personal opinion.
