OT: Tigers-Rays 8/23/11

Submitted by Rashman on

Looks like we're going to need to give Penny some run support tonight.  Only one run in as a type this, but lots of good contact from the Rays batters.

Penny has done tremendous tonight. Unfortunately I just don't see us winning this game for whatever reason. I really appreciate what Penny has done tonight though. He is doing much better at night.

Mario and Rod keep talking about how he has said he hates mornings and doesn't "wake up" until after noon. For whatever reason he had like 15 day starts in a row (even after line-up switches and everything) to start the season. Maybe there really was something to that because he pitches far better at night.

In case you have not caught on by now, Mario and Rod will say anything to excuse the struggles of a player. If there is no excuse, they will try their best to ignore it.

They are bought-and-paid for shills. Rod in particular is far more concerned with being the players' friend than he is with delivering honest commentary to the audience. He is like the anti-Steve Stone.

Inge has always sucked.  Inge will always suck.  Inge's patented check swing strikeout sucks.  Inge's forearm tattoos suck.  Inge's goofy ass goatee sucks.  The fact that, if allowed, Inge would have won the Tigers fan favorite player of the game award while being on the Toledo Mud Hens sucks.  If Inge was swallowed by the earthquake today, he would still suck.

The fact that Inge can drive a golf ball 300 yards, dunk a basketball, and hit the roof of Ford Field punting a football sucks.

Unfortunately, Inge's suckitude is the best we have on many nights.

(Every team needs a scapegoat, I choose to blame Inge.  Ryan/Ryanne/Ryne Rayborn/Rayburns/Raburn is next in line)

I actually don't mind how Inge is being used since his return. I like him as a defensive replacement late in games and don't mind if he gets a start every now and then. As long as he's not an everyday starter.

Why do the Rays have such terrible fan support?  This is a team that's 12 games over .500.  They still have an outside chance at the playoffs.

swung on that wild pitch, at least from the side view. Strange that Mario and Rod didn't even mention that.

Oh well doesn't matter, still got the out. Big win for the Tigers, looked like a big mismatch on paper with the pitching matchup.

Wow surprising win to say the least. Penny was wild, yet very effective getting some quick outs and bad swings. Phil Coke should get an Iron Man award tonight with that 6 out save.

Tonight was my "That's it. This division is ours" moment (yes, I had them in 2006 and 2009 as well).

When you win against a very good team on the road in a Penny vs. Price pitching matchup and your two best relievers aren't available, it might be your year. I'm geeked.
