OT: Thanksgiving Football

Submitted by VCavman24 on November 24th, 2022 at 1:16 PM

It's Thanksgiving today (Happy Thanksgiving to all!), which means it is time for some football!  Our Detroit Lions are tied, 7-7, with the Buffalo Bills (who interestingly have played a home game at Ford Field more recently than Detroit has) at the end of the first quarter.  The game is on CBS.

This afternoon, the Giants face off against the Cowboys on Fox, while tonight the Patriots travel to the Vikings on NBC.

Also at 2:00 p.m., Brazil takes on Serbia in the final opening World Cup game (a different type of football).  That game is on Fox.

Oh FFS.  That mighta been a TD if Allen puts the ball slightly ahead.

If Buffalo wins this, us burning 3rd and 1 on that aborted bomb is the ballgame.

Edit: welp.

I don't want to see a single sportswriter claim that this is a "moral victory" and that the team "is on the right track." It should be treated like a heartbreaking loss that should have been a win that essentially eliminates them from playoff contention.

If you're not going to call time out or go for it on 4th and short, at least make the other team doesn't have any time left when you kick the field goal. . . so things like this don't happen.

I was at the game and saw quite a few spartan fans.  The best part of this game was sometime in the second half during a tv timeout they had the crowd cheer for "Thanksgiving staples" if you liked them.  Went through ham vs turkey, blah blah blah.  Then they got to an OSU logo and boos were deafening.  Then they showed the good logo and you didn't hear a peep from the spartans over the cheers.  It was glorious.

Didn't watch the game, but wanted to read the comments that go from hope, to frustration, to acceptance of a Lions loss.  Didn't deviate from the usual script.  Sorry guys.

Anyone watching Mississippi and Mississippi State?  16-14 Ole Miss in 3rd quarter.  Kiffin's kid firing off the fire extinguisher earlier was a nice touch.

I haven't watched pro football for years. My daughter brought her boyfriend, a big Lions fan, over for Thanksgiving dinner yesterday so I agreed to watch the game.

I gave up on the Lions and pro football years ago and now I remember why.
