Leaders And Best

Those losses look much better today than they did at the time. Michigan still has a lot to improve on defense, but those are looking like some quality teams on our nonconference schedule.

This is very often the case.  Honestly, I think a lot of the big time programs go after good recruiters over good coaches, and we've gotten bailed out many times by playing teams that have bigger, better athletes in the paint but aren't coached up and disciplined enough to exploit the mismatches.

Team chemistry and knowing your role are so crucial to Beilein's offense. You never know what the season might bring if the team can come together and peak at the right time (there's a joke in there somewhere).

So I, for one, am going to be cautiously optimistic for at least one more half before I write this team off for the year.

the basketball team hasn't played well most of the season so far but the more they play together the better things will get. Of course the 5 is still a disaster but it can only get better right?

Is that a statement of surprise or are you just questioning the reason for the thread and why it may be relevant to our interests? Or are you attempting to imply something negative towards the Michigan basketball program? #2 and #3 seem more likely, so I present you with a NEG.

Don't see Texas finishing better than 7th in the big 12 this year. That was a great win for them. Watching Eric Davis drop 16 stings. Another Michigan kid not playing at Michigan.

This only helps UM's RPI and SOS.  I'll take it.  Also interseting, Kansas is struggling a bit against Oregon State.  It's weird seeing a lack of a truly dominant team in CBB, even with MSU #1.

We have beaten some of those loaded teams that MSU had. Given we had some great players but we mainly won because of role players. Hope we see some improvement and bring it against them.

They are good, but they don't feel like an unbeatable, overly-talented squad.  They are absolutely playing like the best team in the country right now, but compared to years past they don't feel like the dominant squad.  I mean, according to Kenpom they aren't even the best team in the B1G, and they look more like a very solid top-3 seed than a #1 overall like they are tracking.

MSU looked beatable tonight, although it could have just been a poor shooting night. Florida played really well and Sparty shot 20% from 3, but they won it with their defense and rebounding. I still think Kentucky is the best team.

Well they have beaten the #2, #15, and #22 teams, so you'd expect close games. Florida played well tonight. They deserve to be #1, but they can be beaten and I think that they might be reading their own press clippings. I think a couple losses soon will help them.

That's the best game they'll play all year. They missed some free throws but they also rebounded an absurd amount of misses against a solid rebounding team. Clearly I'm going to pull for Texas to have a good season to help us out. But damn I can't see them playing this well again this season.
