OT: Talking Cars Tuesday - Your TV/Movie Car

Submitted by JeepinBen on August 6th, 2019 at 10:39 AM

Nearing the end of OT season, this might be one of the last TCTs of the year.

So, with a new "F&F" ish movie out (Hobbes & Shaw) that doesn't really focus on cars and lots of love for the cars from "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" I've been thinking about cars from the big and small screen. Let's say you get ONE TV/Movie car to add to your dream garage. Just one. It's got all the effects/whatever that it has on screen, and it's yours, but you're using it in your real life. I think I'd really love having an Aston DB5, but I don't know that I'd ever really use the machine guns without getting arrested. Would KITT get annoying on my commute? Would you want to be a UBoat Commander and get the Risky Business 928? In Chicago am I best served with a cop motor, cop shocks, and the new Bluesmobile?

Cars are a huge part of film & TV, which one vehicle would you add to your stable?

For me, there is only one choice.

The looks are a little dated now. But man, the emotional weight this has in my head.

The 'on demand' blower. The side pipes. The burble. It's all there.

The Blower man! The Blower!

When Channel 50 first showed this on TV and I copied it (ads and all) on the family VHS machine, I was hooked.

One caveat: The cars that really got me nuts about cars were the Cobra's and Cobra Daytona's. There was a book 'Carrol Shelby's Racing Cobra' that really got me going. But there hasn't been a movie about this.

Ford Vs. Ferrari might change that.

I too would choose the Tom Sellek Ferrari

Second would be the James Bond Lotus Esprit that turned into a sub

Loved the original batmobile

How about something from the Munsters?

Because we get to have all of the things gotta go with Christine, if things like time travel were not part of it, gotta go with the General Lee

The Herkimer Battle Jitney from ‘Mystery Men’.  As Tom Waits put it “It’s the finest non-lethal assault vehicle ever made.

The ZZ Top coupe with 3 angels to help me.

Or perhaps this Ford Thunderbird with the most perfect, dazzling creature.

Or a spinner from Blade Runner, because why sit in rush hour traffic when you can fly?

Frankly speaking, I don't use cars to move around cities. I believe that it's better to use public transport because it leads to narrowing streets, to traffic speed reduction, and to other useful things in the long run. But I don't mind long-distance trips by cars and trailers. That's why I'm fond of them. I came across this car trailer buying guide and now I even want to get one.
