OT: Talking Cars Tuesday - Your TV/Movie Car
Nearing the end of OT season, this might be one of the last TCTs of the year.
So, with a new "F&F" ish movie out (Hobbes & Shaw) that doesn't really focus on cars and lots of love for the cars from "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" I've been thinking about cars from the big and small screen. Let's say you get ONE TV/Movie car to add to your dream garage. Just one. It's got all the effects/whatever that it has on screen, and it's yours, but you're using it in your real life. I think I'd really love having an Aston DB5, but I don't know that I'd ever really use the machine guns without getting arrested. Would KITT get annoying on my commute? Would you want to be a UBoat Commander and get the Risky Business 928? In Chicago am I best served with a cop motor, cop shocks, and the new Bluesmobile?
Cars are a huge part of film & TV, which one vehicle would you add to your stable?

I’ll second Steve McQueen’s Mustang (and maybe his female costar to ride shotgun).

Barry Newman's Dodge Challenger from "Vanishing Point."

The powerbike from Akira.
If that counts.

For me, there is only one choice.
The looks are a little dated now. But man, the emotional weight this has in my head.
The 'on demand' blower. The side pipes. The burble. It's all there.
The Blower man! The Blower!
When Channel 50 first showed this on TV and I copied it (ads and all) on the family VHS machine, I was hooked.
One caveat: The cars that really got me nuts about cars were the Cobra's and Cobra Daytona's. There was a book 'Carrol Shelby's Racing Cobra' that really got me going. But there hasn't been a movie about this.
Ford Vs. Ferrari might change that.

I too would choose the Tom Sellek Ferrari
Second would be the James Bond Lotus Esprit that turned into a sub
Loved the original batmobile
How about something from the Munsters?
I can’t believe they would let Al Lewis near that death trap. Does seem to have a smile on his kisser, though.

Second place. Mystery Machine. If it comes with Daphne.

brief appearance of a Citroen Sm in the longest yard, ran off the end of a pier in opening scene. I had one .Was the most fun car at the time . Really far ahead in technology not particularly fast or stable

I always liked the Audi S8 that's driven in Ronin.

How has no one said Eleanor from gone in sixty seconds?

I'll take Black Beauty from The Green Hornet. It has a few quality options for dealing with people who text and drive.
August 6th, 2019 at 12:25 PM ^
I'm going with the Love Machine
Pronounced: Love Maching
Deal, I'll take the Porsche. Jerry Bruckheimer's personal one in fact!

I want the truck Barney purchased when he became the “Plow King.” I’m gonna clean up during these Michigan winters.
C'mon man. Everybody knows Mr. Plow is the best in Springfield.
Mr. Plow is a loser and I hear he is a boozer ...
The real Mr. Plow

Gotta go with Crockett's Ferrari 365GTB Daytona Spyder from Miami Vice, but a real one...not a replica.

Not my 1st preference, but if KITT can make Hasselhoff look cool, it's worth mentioning.
Remember when it was amazing that a car had a voice? Now my Subaru talks to me...

If we're going for talking cars, I'll nominate the 1928 Porter possessed by the ghost of Jerry VanDyke's mom in My Mother the Car.
I was going to say a customized time traveling Delorean but someone already beat me to it so by default, I'll go with this:
Cobra? Cobra.
The DeLorean from BTTF.
Dustin Hoffman's Graduate or the Jag E-type from "Harold and Maude" before it got turned into a hearse.
Because we get to have all of the things gotta go with Christine, if things like time travel were not part of it, gotta go with the General Lee
I might want something like this for travel.
Because I don't fly...
First choice is easy:
Second choice:
The Herkimer Battle Jitney from ‘Mystery Men’. As Tom Waits put it “It’s the finest non-lethal assault vehicle ever made.
The Death mobile from Animal House.
"Ramming speed"!!!!!!
The ZZ Top coupe with 3 angels to help me.
Or perhaps this Ford Thunderbird with the most perfect, dazzling creature.
Or a spinner from Blade Runner, because why sit in rush hour traffic when you can fly?
A very young Suzanne Somers in the t-bird. From American Graffiti.
25 may or may not be very young, depending on your perspective.

1. The car John Travolta drives in Swordfish
2. Optimus Prime (because who doesn't want a car that is also a transformer?)
I didn't know that was an option. I'd totally go with Bumble Bee.
Throw another one out there: Twiggy's Jag from The Blues Brothers. If she's driving..

Frankly speaking, I don't use cars to move around cities. I believe that it's better to use public transport because it leads to narrowing streets, to traffic speed reduction, and to other useful things in the long run. But I don't mind long-distance trips by cars and trailers. That's why I'm fond of them. I came across this car trailer buying guide and now I even want to get one.
