I'll admit the source is not the best, but this seems to be growing legs.

Really?  So you don't think an unnamed source on an overseas internet betting site is gospel?  Please reference the other sources you've heard this from then.

I call bullshit.

The genesis of this "rumor" today was a random post this morning on Syracuse.com, our version of MLive.  There's your source.

It's only grown any legs because an idiot 20-something at YNN in Rochester made the idiotic move of regurgitating it as "breaking news" on his twitter - which may cost him his job.

I must admit i hate the way the annonimity of the internet allows people to disparage people's reputation without a whiff of consequence.  At least in print if you make a claim that proves to be unfounded you can be sued.  In a bar you get punched in the face.

On the internet 128 pound pimply-faced weasels living in their mom's basement can slam somebody without fear of retribution and then fire up the X Box to see if they can conquer Worlds of Warcraft before dinner.

Oh come on.  As if that all can't be done with by a bedrock paper and ink press outlet.  Say, IDK, the Freep.

It's also ludicrous to paint everyone on the internet as a 128lb nerd living in their mom's basement.

And finally, World of Warcraft is a PC-only game, no XBOX version.

TL;DR - Stereotyping people just shows you're an idiot.

Oh for Christ's sake why don't you form a support group if your delicate sensibilities are offended at my over-the-top categorization of the type of people who post this type of rumor drivel, not all internet users.  In case the obvious missed you.....I'm on the freaking internet so I wasn't stereotyping myself....

And I apologize I'm not up on the proper gaming platforms used in WoW.  I just know that MY pimply faced, 18 year old son living in MY basement  and on the internet liked to play it.

Looking forward to continuing our dominance of you on February 26th at the Verizon Center, or as we call it, "Carrier Dome South".  Though I know you guys are scared of selling tickets to have us outnumber you in your own building again...

That bleacher report "story" is devoid of any substance, whatsoever.  The very first sentence asks "Are Syracuse players shaving points for gambling purposes" yet offers zero evidence or data to answer the question.

Garbage.

It is an interesting coincidence that 2011 marks the 20 year anniversary when Syracuse basketball last was found in violation of breaking NCAA rules and put on probation.  Oh, and instead of taking the 2 years of probation, they offered to pay the NCAA $365,000 in reparations.  So, I'm praying this is true but I doubt it is, I'm not that lucky.

What are you talking about?

"As a result, Syracuse will be banned from the N.C.A.A. men's basketball tournament after the 1992-93 season, will lose a men's basketball scholarship in both the 1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons and will not be allowed to send its men's basketball coaches off campus to recruit from Jan. 1, 1993, to June 30, 1993."

Get your facts right before you start throwing out statements as facts.

They offered the bribe got denied and ended up with 2 years probation and a 1 year postseason ban.  And Boeheim has been bobbing and weaving extremely well for 20 years.

Only the first in a google search.  http://www.nytimes.com/1992/10/02/sports/colleges-ncaa-calls-a-two-year…

In this case, the N.C.A.A accepted the findings, but not the penalties that Syracuse had proposed.

For example, rather than a limitation on post-season basketball, the university offered to contribute $364,000 to charity. "We could not accept that penalty," Swank said. Syracuse had recommended one year of probation, but the infractions committee increased it to two. Syracuse had not recommended any limits on post-season competition, but the N.C.A.A. imposed one year.

It seems like you may not know all you thought you did about the situation.  But, you were able to learn some new things about your beloved orange so the day is a good one for you I hope.

They offered a bribe plain and simple to whomever it was is irrelevent.  SU basketball have been apart of numerous unethical and illegal doings since Boeheim has been coach and they've done whatever they could to cover it up even bribe the NCAA.
