OT: Supreme Court hears sports betting legalization arguments

Submitted by Uncle Soaky on

Today the US Supreme Court heard arguments on whether the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 is unconstitutional. If the Court agrees it would pave the way for legalized sports betting across the country.

I am really surprised that sports betting across the country isn’t already legal. The amount of money generated in Vegas and Atlantic city alone are astronomical. On the black market you have hundreds of billions of dollars being wagered each year. I have been betting on sports for a decade now. It takes skill to be able to consistently turn a profit. My first two years were a disaster as I hadn’t anticipated the difficulty level. It was around 2013 where I really started taking it seriously, and began to see some success. When I turned a profit for the first time I wanted to see if I could continue to do so. I love winning money competing against the incredibly intelligent line makers. College football, small conference college basketball, English premier league soccer, and nhl hockey are my cash cows. Been trying to get better at the nba.

I traded options for a living and with no underlying asset in that kind of trade the stock market becomes exactly like a sports wager. Or just about exactly alike.

I don't bet because it's illegal. I would have bet UM with the points last night, except I have a rule that I never bet on my own team, so I wouldn't have lost. Still that should have been a winner and a half, although you could have closed out before halftime. And the rest of the game should have gone accordingly, except our team is apparently down for getting punked. Have I mentioned how pissed off I am about that game? Should have been easy money. If you have the temperament to bet on your own team. I don't.
