OT: Steve Harvey botches the Miss Universe winner
If you haven't seen this yet, you are missing out. Steve Harvey royally messed up the Miss Universe 2015 pageant. Like, badly. This is why the word "cringeworthy" was created. Watch until the end. Enjoy.

I couldn't care less about Steve Harvey or Miss Universe, but this failure is gold.
Oh, and to answer your question. Nearly 2 million people care.

Is MGoBlog the place for it though? This is something for Reddit.

Even if I'm negged for it, I think TIMMMAAY brings up a fair point. This is verging on offseason OT. Not that I don't think it's interesting...but Reddit this blog is not.

I love that argument.

It's called schadenfreude, and if you don't enjoy it then you're on the wrong blog.

I love this blog, but I guess I'm in the minority thinking the schadenfreude here can get pretty pathetic sometimes.

Steve Harvey's a public figure and will be remembered for more than this. He'll move on.
I feel worse for Miss Colombia. Her dream came true for a few minutes and then it ended forever.
December 21st, 2015 at 12:20 PM ^
Contestants do this for fame and modeling / media opportunities.
Miss Colombia will have 10 times more fame and get 10 times more modeling / media opportunities than if this would not have happened.
She'll land on her feet just fine.

Harvey betta neva go to Columbia....we know how they roll down there!

that don't involve my favorite teams is I find so much entertainment in someone else's discomfort. The fans, the coaches, the players.
Do you watch OSU or Sparty to see them win?
I mean, who really wants to watch Giants vs. Panthers anyway?

Most of Latin America. And that's about it probably. Many people out there are speculating that it might have been on purpose to get more rating because the pageant has had such a decline in viewership and popularity in the last decade.
Having only seen the replay it looks like it was SUPER awkward for the first runner up, who just stood there until someone came and took the crown off her to put it on the winner. Hilarious to watch.

As far as I'm concerned, Miss Colombia should have won. She's hot. She looks like she could be Sophia Vagara's daughter.
They should make it up to her by having her appear on "Modern Family" as Sophia Vagara's long-lost daughter.
Everybody wins.

"They should make it up to her by having her appear on "Modern Family" as Sophia Vagara's long-lost daughter who refuses to wear clothes EVER so they call her Sophia Vagara's long-lost naked daughter"
There. I fixed it.

I would watch that.

Since he sold his shares in the company three months ago. This is probably pure gold for him right now.
December 21st, 2015 at 12:05 PM ^
If he sold his stake in the company before this happened, how would he profit from this now?
December 21st, 2015 at 12:34 PM ^
Then when this blows over, sell the stake at the high again.

If anything, I think this controversy will increase its price, not lower it. People are going to tune in next year to see if any more weirdness happens.
December 21st, 2015 at 1:44 PM ^
He's already said this wouldn't have happened if he was still running things.

Miss Colombia cares

I normally hate conspiracy theory type stuff, but does anyone else think there's at least some chance this was an intentional setup? If it was really accidental, wouldn't some producer have been in Harvey's ear to fix it in seconds, before they went through the whole song & dance for the winner? And they were perfectly prepared to catch all of the shocking events on camera without missing a beat.
I bet this is the most attention Miss Universe has gotten in a long time. Coincidence?
December 21st, 2015 at 11:43 AM ^
It's science.
December 21st, 2015 at 11:34 AM ^
The big thing the conspiracy theorists are getting on is that the timing of the pageant wasn't thrown off by the error. It still ended on time even though this whole debacle happened. Interesting theory, and I wish it were true, but I doubt it.
December 21st, 2015 at 1:01 PM ^
Aren't they supposed to walk down the stage waving at everybody? And aren't the runners-ups supposed to come down and congratulate her? There was time for that to happen. It didn't. Instead they let her awkwardly wave for 3 minutes until the error was corrected. Very strange. At least she got to be Miss Universe for 3 minutes.
December 21st, 2015 at 2:00 PM ^
No doubt this was a planned publicity stunt...and it worked like a charm. How many of us would have known this pageant even happened last night otherwise?
December 21st, 2015 at 5:38 PM ^
but a shameless 'mistake' for publicity sure seems likely. Just like Janet Jackson's famous 'wardrobe malfunction'. Wouldn't surprise me at all if this was setup
