For Kansas this is a genius marketing move. Make the spring game an "event" and bring out a music "star" to come perform. It will drum up excitement for the coming Kansas football season which will translate to ticket sales (at least for the early games until they start losing). They are just building on top of the Les Miles hype.

Michigan wouldn't need this as year after year we sell out games without too much preseason hype from coaches / administration. Kansas on the other hand needs this. Fact that this "news" ends up on MGoBlog shows their marketing is working to a degree.

Ugh--Rick Ross never trafficked cocaine. He was a corrections officer who chose to use the name of Freeway Ricky Ross, who was a HUGE trafficker, a virtual kingpin, who supplied all of L.A. through a Nicaraguan exile who used his proceeds to fund the Contras. The real Freeway Rick is actually suing Rick Ross' fat, fake, untalented C.O. ass.

Good for Kansas. Anything to get buzz going.

Rick must have a career that is on fire if he is doing a spring game. Does he also do county fairs?

"He will do it"-First thing the agent for Rick Ross says when the phone rings.

Is he the guy who played a rapper in Pitch Perfect 3?

This does not say good things about middle class America, or the U of Kansas. And I don't mean that in an old man 'to f*ck off my lawn' kinda way.

All I'm saying is I'm not sure why a Michigan blog should care that a nobody college football program with no tradition whatsoever is paying a rapper to show up to their practice. That's all.

Frankly, the amount of attention given to spring games around here is pretty amazing in itself, but YMMV. They're practice.
