OT - Reddit CFB Risk Update 5/23 - OSU on the ropes
Last night was a great night for us. Including those bordered by allies, we are now up to 8(!) buffered territories impervious to attack this round. We even somehow managed to take Columbus. Meanwhile, OSU is doing... something. Us and our allies have them reeling as they are down to a mere 3 territories.

Announcements:
The "Blue Alliance" has been re-dubbed the "Allied Forces" and now consists of Michigan, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Florida, and Texas. Please refrain from attacking any territories controlled by our allies.

Instructions to Join:
To join all you need to do is go to reddit.com/r/cfb and create an account if you don't already have one. Next, set your flair to Michigan. You can do this by clicking "Select Flair" on the right side of the cfb subreddit. Finally, you can join and play the game at https://vote.redditcfb.com/cfbrisk.php.
If you want to discuss the game in deeper detail and strategize with us, you can join our discord server found here: https://discord.gg/TcZBTcj. We usually announce plans of what we want to attack/defend in the evenings, but we discuss strategy all day. Be warned though, there will be a vetting process to join the discord as we have had some mole issues from OSU. Even if you don’t pass the vetting process, we can still provide less-secret instructions in the general chat so that you can still help us towards our goals until we can fully 100% trust you.

Instructions as to how to play:
At the beginning of the game. Every team was assigned one single territory, and so every territory is now named after that team. When you go to select an action in the game, you'll see option such as:
"Defend Buffalo", "Attack Penn State", "Attack Kent State".
This means that we border the location that was originally assigned to Penn State and Kent State. If you choose to attack Penn State, you will attempt to take that piece of land next round. Defend Buffalo, means that we currently own Buffalo's original homeland, and defending Buffalo means putting your stars towards keeping Buffalo from being taken.
After you submit what you're doing for the day, just sit back at wait! At Midnight EST all of the picks from all of the teams go in, and a random number generator selects a winner for each territory. Then it all happens again tomorrow.

I have a question for those who know more about this game than I, but it seems like team chaos users just keep growing, which makes sense based on those eliminated just getting added to the fold. Doesn't that mean they are just going to win in the end unless we eliminate them soon?
We have metrics on that. In fact, we have metrics on just about everything. Chaos' participation rate is very low. Actually, they are about equal strength with us when going by historical player participation from turn to turn. It seems like players lose interest quickly once their team is out of it.
If UM is out I wouldn't play anymore. That is, unless OSU was still around. I could see chaos benefitting from them dying.
so i may need some help. I have joined and picked a flair and got my order to attach ohio. I go into the game and its not giving me that option. its either telling me to attack michigan or defend ohio. Did I screw something up?

This is the logo you should press the corresponding button for if it says attack Ohio.
Everything corresponds to the names of the "territories". Territitories are named after the team that initially occupied it.

The difficulty with eliminating any team -- but especially a high participation team like OSU -- is that they can focus all their power on just a few territories because they don't have much to defend. That's why Bama was able to explode after being down to 1 territory.
In that regard, would it kinda make sense to defend our front with them this round, instead of attacking? And hope that they get unlucky and lose another territory... then attack when they are down to 1 or 2 territories?
They are already down to 3 territories. It's good to keep the pressure on them when they are already reeling.

it will take some luck to completely eliminate a stout player like OSU cause, as you noted, the fewer number of territories the more concentrated their forces become. So unless they give up (and you have to believe the OSU Risk players do NOT want to get pushed our by the MGoHorde), it will take a fortuntate RNG roll to elminate them.....
We'll see, this is where coordinated Allied strikes become important.

Don't forget to go nuts upvoting every wolverine on Reddit. I think the Karma is the last area most can improve without the advantage of time travel. I am s lowly 2 star, (way underated) but the awards, days on Reddit, and turns played are out of my hands. I clicked the links, and I comment (most are forced and add little) but now I need my upvotes for more stars.
Reddit should be an all day every day pos bang for UM posters until we win this bitch.

Alright. Years of playing angry games of risk and a break up have forced my hand, finally joining up! Between Shea and Risk victory summer is looking up!

I am officially a 3 star! Maizen still doesn't want me but at least I am out of the nerfed 1 and 2 star rank.
But don't worry, in this version of Risk. You regnerate everyday to attack for another day. That is the biggest challenge in this game and why it is important that more people sign up. We need to have the MGoHorde at full strength.
This is sounding as much like Diplomacy as Risk. No alliance will last forever eventually there will be a betrayal.
I, a lurker since 2008, have come forth from the shadows in support of this glorious conquest. The tyranny of the Red Alliance must be stopped at all costs.
