Also, I hope we get Ovechkin in a trade. He wants out of DC.
Can you blame him? They've been trying and failing for 40 years to finally get a cup.
I would hate to have to be a Blackhawks fan. They have as many Cups in their history as the Wings do in the last 15 years.
They're based in Detroit, and they have a losing playing record to the Blackhawks. Go Hawks!
would actually matter if Wing's fans actually lived in Detroit. Thankfully most of us do not, so that point is pretty much moot. Not to mention let's not act like Chicago is all sunshine and lollipops, there are some pretty rough areas in Chicago.
And yes, I lived in Detroit until very recently. Rent became very expensive.
Please...ask 100 people that same question, and Chicago comes on top 99 times. I went to school in Ann Arbor for seven years, and I loved it. I worked and lived in Chicago for eight years and now in Seoul for two years. Detroit is nothing compared to either. It is pretty much a ghost town, which is sad considering the heights from which it has fallen.
The Red Wings don't have a losing record to the blackhawks....

Hawks have been sitting around, hope they're rusty.
Let's go Red Wings and steal game one!
So I have to go with the Hawks. Their goalie grew up on the same street as me. I also hung out with his cousin in high school.
I'm looking forward to this series. Last. Time. Ever.
the other day with two people from Quebec. I swear they were talking about how everyone there has some story about growing up down the street from some NHL player.
I haven't heard anyone else I know make that claim. A story about meeting or an encounter with an NHLer would be more likely. Especially if one plays or spends any amount of time in hockey arenas.
I lived in an OHL city (not Plymouth). I knew a few of guys on the team who went to the NHL, and they were 15-20 yrs old. Does that count?
you have my full respect. People like you are the reason why so many kids make it to the NHL.
GO WINGS GO!!!
I'll be at game 2, let's hope we are up 1-0 going in.
I've gotten lazy lately. Maybe I was just too excited!
WOO HOO! Game is on CBC.
Let's pick up where we left off boys... beat the Hawks!!!
ARGH! STOP TURNING THE PUCK OVER!
Well, at least it's still tied after the first minute.
Cross check to the head. nice...
-Gary Bettman
This is a serious question, is the penalty thing on the NBC scoreboard broken?
have to put up with atrocious officiating in this series too. Only in the NHL is Ab's hit a two game suspension, and a cross-check to the head isn't even a penatly. NHL sure is great at picking and choosing when it wants to protect the head area.
He came from the NBA. That league is ruined, but I think the good ol'boys network in the NHL keeps him from ruining this league too.
LGRW!
Ok seriously I was the one saying Abby should be penalized and maybe suspended last series, but if Abby's was a two game suspension that had to be... 4? 5?
Ooh, post!
PPG them, Hawks 1-0.
COME ON SMITH.
You let him go, it's not his fault your team didn't have the money to pay him.
The Wings didn't have the money because they gave 73 million dollars to Zetterberg and 43 million to Franzen in 2009, 46 million to Datsyuk the year before.
contract, don't see how that is a being a sellout. The fact of the matter is he did the Wings a favor in the first place by signing with them for one year when he had long-term offers on the table the year before. I don't understand why fellow Wing fans have a problem with Hossa.
he's a very good player not in a Red Wings jersey, but it is really disingenuous to say he's a sellout when the Wings got him on a one year deal, from another elite team no less. Holland couldn't offer Hossa as much as Chicago did, and Hossa went to Chicago. That's what free agents do.
