OT: Penn State tipping their plays?

Submitted by MGolem on
Watching the Ryen Russillo show on ESPN News (working from home). Johnathan Vilma is his co-host for the day. Vilma said Penn State is tipping their running plays and Ohio State figured it out. He said he would not reveal what the tip was on the air until Penn State was out of the playoff picture but he did tell Russillo (off-air) and Russillo seemed to agree. Anyone aware of what that tip may be? Definitely a shame we didn't figure it out first although not sure it would have mattered considering our offensive display that night.

With the way McSorely threw it agaisnt us + Mike Muresan Gesicki, it wouldn't matter had they flat out shared their playbook and playcalls with us.

This reminds me of DeBord era Michigan.  You could read run/pass presnap about 95% of the time by looking at the depth of the tailback.  5 yards off the ball was a pass, 7 yards was a run.  And if the fullback went in motion, as Millen would say, you could always "follow the fullback" because the run was going that way.

osu d-line dominated the second half and thats what got them going in the game, too much depth over whelmed penn st o line

After that huge run to start the game we actually bottled up Barkley besides on mismatch pass plays. We did get into trouble when we let McSorely run free.

They could’ve lit their plays up in big neon signs in the scoreboard at JerryWorld and we still couldn’t have stopped them.

Yeah I’m a Debbie Downer. Neg me if you will.

We called them…

I didn't get to watch the Penn State game live (what kinda monster forces a man to marry her on a football Saturday), and thought I'd be happier not watching the replay but... I feel like you can tell a lot about a play pre-snap. The OL splits and their stances give things away to a dummy like me. Also, I like watching who is actually paying attention leaving the huddle.

if you told him before the play, "hey, wheel route with Barkley coming up, get ready to keep up with that guy 30+ yards down the field. He runs a legit 4.4."

"Gee, thanks coach."
