OT: Patriots fans raising funds to pay the Deflategate fine.

Submitted by wolverine1987 on

Ok, I am second to no one in my contempt of the punishment over deflategate, which is so overblown as an issue that it devalues the term overblown. And the crime itself is at best, a five MPH over the speed limit issue IMO. However, that does not mean it makes much sense for regular people to try to pay a fine levied on one of the world's richest men. Apparently Pats fans have raised 4k already on gofundme. I don't even agree with the title of this linked article, but do agree it makes little sense.

They should take their money and give it to the 2 longtime Pats employess who have been let go over this.  You know damn well Brady told them how he liked the footballs and guys in their position sure as hell weren't going to stop and say "Uhh, Tom, these balls are a little underinflated".

Brady will be just fine and so will the Pats.  Hell, if Brady's suspension is upheld (which I think unlikely and is likely to drop to 2 games) they will save almost 1 Million Dollars not paying him, even with the fine.

We obviously know we won't reach One Million Dollars, however we do believe the fine is bulls**t and want to help anyway we can. So whatever is donated will be donated to the New England Patriots in help with the fine! - from the mission statement

If you want a confident mission statement, go to this guy, right? "OK, so the goal is unrealistic and we likely won't get there, but every penny helps, eh?"

for the four suspended games. Looking at it very narrowly, Kraft is actually ahead $1M in cash AFTER he pays the penalty and doesn't pay Brady.

and yes, Kraft whould pay extra millions to get Brady to be eligable for those games.

This is all just such a fucking clown show.  Let's not mince words - Roger Gooddell fining anyone for damaging the integrity of the NFL is hypocrisy on par with Jenna Jameson calling someone out for corrupting the eyeballs of teenage boys in the 90's.  It was impossible for him to get the penalty right because he's so thoroughly arsed up everything prior to this.  And I'm pretty sure he didn't get this one right, though I confess to giving less than two shits about the particulars of this case.

Here's the thing, though - Patriot fans are not wrong to say how asinine it is that Tom Brady gets suspended for 4 games while a wife-beating Ratbird shitstain Ray Rice gets two.  I feel you on this, I really do.

And I'll singlehandedly take out a 2nd mortgage on my house to pay up the balance of your team's fines the minute that you all collectively muster the grace to admit that your team is a bunch of low-down dirty cheaters who do go above and beyond the call of duty and cheat more systematically and unapologetically than the other 31 teams who also cheat.
