Enjoy… Go Lions..

It seems as though the D was decent enough when we were healthy and had all the starters, but injuries have crushed our secondary and also have hurt the DL -- wasn't Houston expected back? Anyway, it's hard to get starters AND decent depth when building from nothing like the Lions were a couple years ago.  Still a year or two away, it seems.

Aside from that, what they see in Anzalone I have no idea. He wouldn't start for most teams.

Houston should be back soon, IIRC. Playoffs for sure. I think they could also get Alim and CGJ (or whatever his name is now) around then.

Injuries definitely hurting but I'm more concerned about the general execution, especially in that front 7. Been bad lately outside of Hutch and even he has had some lapses.

To play off the Goff comment above, his mechanics seems to be a bit wonky the last few weeks. Indoors or outdoors, pressure or clean pocket, laser or a bit taken off the throw it seems like every ball is coming off his hand a bit wonky. Lots of ducks whether they make it to the target or not. A glove today is surely making that a bit worse but it's been noticeable even indoors.

Then again I think Goff was always prone to the occasional duck so I'm not sure if it's an odds thing or a pattern.

Well the game started as poorly as it could have and yet the Lions are still going into to the half with the lead. Thank god the Bears decided to do a pitch on 4th and inches instead of the Bush Push.

This thread is a little too close appriximation to the Fansville commercial where the entire town gives up on the season one play in

I'm actually surprised at how generally reasonable it's been. The defense picked it up those last two possessions but was atrocious until then, picking up where it left off the last few weeks. I don't blame anyone for being bothered by that.

Plus a lot of people have lifelong Lions PTSD so who can blame any fan for constantly seeing the sky falling on a play-by-play basis?

So I'm surprised by the amount of legit football talk. People giving fair opinions based on things outside of that PTSD, etc. I think I only read a single "SOL" comment so I'll call that a good thread haha.

If the Lions win their division, there’s a non-zero chance they’ll play Matthew Stafford and the Rams in the first round.

As a 54 year-old Lions fan, it’s very hard to let go of the SOL sense of foreboding. 9-3 can only mean they’re about to go 9-7 and miss the playoffs. Chicago on the road at 9-3 and getting asses handed to them, plus laundry all over the field, in the first Q = here we go again. And yet… And yet…?

maybe these’re not the SOL? I think I’d better hold off a couple more weeks, just to be safe 🤣

Noticed that, too.

When Williams gets better with the ball in the air he'll be so dangerous because he'll almost always have a step or two on his guy. A good ball? Huge gain. Underthrown? Comes back to it against a DB running for his life to keep up with him, often drawing a PI.
