OT: Movies you stop everything for to watch
I got to thinking about this yesterday, because I happened to walk into my living room and found Mrs. J. Dean and daughter watching Raiders of the Lost Ark. And I immediately forgot about whatever else it was I was doing and watched it.
Raiders is one of those movies for me: no matter what else is going on, short of the house being on fire or something like that, I stop whatever I'm doing to watch it.
What movies are like that for you?

Lots of good ones already posted. I'm only adding one I didn't see...Bull Durham.
I'm surprised there are no Star Wars comments - those are solid show stoppers but are so rarely on cable.

The Big Chill, Bridesmaids, Young Frankenstein, The Royal Tenenbaums

- Godfather II DeNiro scenes

That's tough, because im usually only watching tv at my sister's house, so it'll end up being Bill Murray movies, more than likely. What about Bob, Ghostbusters, Groundhogs Day, Rushmore, etc.

Usually iconic ones that draw you in and don’t let go like:
The Godfather I and II,
Bridge on the River Kwai,
Dr. Zhivago,
Lawrence of Arabia,
Harold and Maude,
Princess Bride,
Shawshank,
Dead Poets,
To Kill a Mockingbird,
Apocolypse Now,
Butch and Sundance,
Good, Bad, Ugly
Unforgiven

Fight Club. "Sticking feathers up your butt does not make one a chicken."
A River Runs Through It
Aliens. So many one liners in that one. "I say we dust off and nuke it from orbit...only way to be sure."
Already said, but definitely Tombstone "Why Johnny Ringo, you look like someone just walked over your grave."

National Treasure. Don't know why but love those two movies.
1. A Few Good Men
2. Malcom X
3. Elf
4. Crush Groove (showing my age)
5. End Game
I will sit through all of a Few Good Men just to see Tom Cruise cross examine Jack Nicholson. Is that clear? Crystal!
If there is a good scifi movie on that will stop me in my tracks. T1-T2, Empire strikes back, total recall, a couple of the new star track movies, to many good ones, even from the 50s, like when the earth stood still and war of the worlds.
Back to the Future and Karate Kid.
The Poseidon Adventure - the original one with Gene Hackman.
So many great ones mentioned already.
Gladiator
Saving Private Ryan
Die Hard
Pulp Fiction
Gangs of New York
The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight Rises
Shooter
Step Brothers
Tombstone
Django Unchained
Gangs of New York was a terribly underrated film. DDL gives his typical Oscar-worthy performance as Bill the Butcher. Which brings me to There Will Be Blood, another incredible film, for which he did win the Oscar, and which I will always stop for.
None
Never heard of it.
1. Karate Kid (obviously)
2. Back to the Future
3. The Warriors
Karate Kid, Knocked Up, Forgetting Sara Marshall, This is the End, The Big Lebowski, LOTR, many more. I grew up on tv and can’t shake the addiction.
Most all of the above. Plus a River Runs Through it.
Zombieland I and II are both well written and entertain.

1. Man on Fire
2. Raiders of the Lost Ark
3. Patriot Games
4. Vacation
5. Gladiator
6. Airplane
As of late - Step Brothers, Hangover, Shooter, The Other Guys
I dig movies
Edit after reading others : Inglorious Bastards, Django Unchained, Top gun, Back to the Future

Forrest Gump and I cry when Jenny dies every time.
I'm definitely willing to give up everything to see a new movie with Michael Fassbender or James McAvoy. These are two of my favorite actors of recent years. Shame and the Filth are the most interesting and at the same time psychologically difficult films from their filmography. I often follow their new projects on skriber. This is a service where you can follow actors, directors and other filmmakers to avoid missing new projects.
