OT: Michigan bars in Portland, OR
I'll be visiting Portland for the next couple rounds of the tournament. Can anyone recommend Michigan bars in the area?
Thanks and GO BLUE

Here's your information and your downvote: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/um-friendly-bar-locations-across-us-and-els…
Alumni Board member checking in here (which will likely give away my mysterious identity, but oh well.) Our default bar for football is the Thirsty Lion downtown, but stay tuned to our Club Facebook page for updates. We're in the process of exploring all options, and may head elsewhere this weekend!
www.facebook.com/pdxwolverines will have all of our official events listed, and we reply to messages multiple times daily!
Why don't all you M people in Oregon just head over to Eugene and REALLY represent?!
Find a student bar, and march in en masse all geared up in Maize & Blue. You know at least that there the sound will be ON!
And no, I don't care a bit how long a drive it is from Portland to Eugene...

Ohhhh boy. At this rate I wonder sometimes if people just post these threads on purpose. Just to see how many MGoBloggers they can piss off.
Just go to the Portland Alumni website. They'll have event listings, and those will almost certainly tell you the bar, or bars, that they all congregate at.

OT: I enjoyed Bailey's Taproom the last time I was there.

Try emailing the Michigan Alumni Club of Portland for recommendations:

Drive down to Eugene and join me. We need all the Michigan representation we can get.

Or, stay in Portland and enjoy yourself.

Ouch. That stings.

To answer your question: Check with the Facebook group, but I went to the Thirsty Lion and there was a fair number of fellow fans there.

Got the hell out of Oregon. So happy now.

There is no space there.
It's the Rhode Island of cleavage.

I haven't been to Portland since 2011 or 2012, and don't know the sports bar scene there well, but I can say this...they have the most active "Crunchy Granola Strip Bars" scene in America. Truly, it is the most unusual experience, and I highly recommend it to all...
Heard about this ... from a friend:

to dance or watch, when everyone is talking about how vegan they all are?

I can, but you've probably never heard of them.

I just happen to know every single bar in Portland that has Michigan fans in attendance at any given point in time, but I refuse to tell you. Good luck finding somebody else that knows as much as me.
Thirsty Lion is the official alumni bar. It's not one of the hipper bars in town and feels pretty generic, but still has a good selection of beers and the food is decent. They'll have multiple tvs showing the game but the sound system is mediocre and sometimes it's hard to hear the announcers clearly.

in 2006 I went for a Ball State game and came home with a very nice bottle of Pinot and a heavy duty t-shirt with Michigan embroidered on the front that I have worn every week since (and it shows...). Not your typical swag... but the pickens will be slim as it will be packed sardine style for this one.
It might be more fun to heckle Duck fans at the bar of your choice. Michigan can never beat Oregon enough - having lived through Autzen and another game that went badly ...yeah... Beat Oregon!

You're literally on the god damn internet.

Yeah, because searching through 36,000 non-releavnt Google hits is so much better than asking people who have actually been there, and can tell you things like if the sound is even on.
MGoBlog has a passionate, well-traveled membership, and is the ideal place to ask these kinds of things.
Lot's of really good, informative answers in this thread to the OP's questions beyond just static links to beer menus.
As always, if you are not interested in the thread . . .
At Lucky Lab at 1700 N. Killingsworth. I'll be there wearing the only objectively handsome Adiddas M gear ever made - their track jacket with the winged helmet sleeve. Its special.

I'd love to log more time again in A2, but PDX is pretty damn nice.
I'm born and raised in northeast Portland. Left in 1981 for college and never moved back, but I visit every chance I get, and I will love it until I die.

Bottles on Fremont. I watched the Orange Bowl at Bottles in a very cozy lazy boy.
The crack is going to be mighty in any Oregon bar. No need to stoop to Thirsty Lion standards.

I live right by there! Decent food and amazing beer selection. Unfortunately I have to work until 7 :(

Can't figure out how to edit my earlier post (mostly a lurker on here), but our official Alumni Club watch party will be held at Cartlab PDX, 1831 SW River Dr, Portland, OR 97201. Hope to see some of you there!
